RE: A Happy Friday post from the Ocean!

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

3 in one - I think all 3 parts would have made great individual posts 😀
My favourites are the first photos of each part - the U-turn is cool 😉

Hahaha, I so wish that you could have seen it with your own eyes Hannes.
Luckily people don't see or know that I have the zoom.
I decided to crop the lady out of the the very first photo because she looked totally exasperated, trying to pull the little dog towards the sea lol.

Yes, I could easily have made 3 posts, but time constraints and this slow PC would have meant most of my afternoon gone.

Btw. I got a very unusual shot today. Two Terns and an Oystercatcher together in flight. Of course the Terns are much faster than the Oystercatcher, but amazingly they slackened off to keep pace with him.
Never seen this before!

Here's the shot! The black one is the oystercatcher

Cheers and thanks!

Haha, yes, that must have looked so funny, and a zoom can be very handy in such cases 😉

I can imagine her face when she tried to pull the little dog 🤣

Looks cool, like a friendship across different kinds of birds. I haven't heard such of birds and that's surely very unusual to see, but of other animals I have heard of friendships though (cats and dogs 🤣).

Oh yeah, but I never try to embarass anybody lol.

The thing is that Terns can fly from here to the USA and the Oystercatcher can't.
In fact the Oystercatchers are on the rare endangered list and these two Terns seems to have made friends with one. That's why I said that it's an unusual shot.

Cheers and thanks!

Aha, now I understand better. Poor Oystercatcher must stay alone at home while the others fly on vacation, but maybe they take him with them on their back 😉

I heard that there is a protective colony of oystercathers, where they can breed not far from here at another seaside town Hannes.
The town is near the place where we found the Penguin colony and we will go and have a look if we can find it.

No way that that oystercatcher in the photo can ever get overseas, inless of course if he can stowaway on a ship. Lol.

Cheers and thanks!

It's good that they protect the endangered birds. I'm sure to see a post of this colony from you soon 😀

Oh yeah, after viewing the oystercather community and we will also make a turn at the penguin colony again.
From there we will go on a bit furter to do some whale watching.

Cheers and thanks!

Whale watching? Cooool 😀
I hope for some great photos, of course 😉

Oh yeah, there will be many photos and I have posted about our visit there last year, but it is whaling time again and it's so lovely to see the moms with their babies.
Some of the young ones try to "breach" (come out of the water) like their parents and it's fun to watch.

Cheers and thanks!

I'm too lazy to search for the old photos and will wait for the new ones 😄

I thought the evening would cool down, but it's still too hot here. So I think I'm going to take a cold shower and go to bed a bit earlier today - I'm working tomorrow 🙃

I am the same, as I really for some reason, also dislike going back into the files.

The wind is fierce here and it brought the rain clouds, as just started to drip here now. I think that I told you that we are booked for rain in the next 2 weeks.

Yeah, I have the habit of starting the shower on hot and then to gradually turn it to cold.
Hope that you can sleep in the heat Hannes. One thing that I cannot do lol.

Cheers and thanks!

Yes, I think I can remember that you said something about rainy days.

I love hot showers, even in Summer. Sometimes I take my shower like you do, but only when I am still too tired in the morning and need to wake up 😉

Sleeping in the heat isn't easy, but I'm tired and will watch a few minutes YouTube. This will help 😁

Ah, you have the luxury of YouTube of course.
We used to watch Louie Giglio on there a few years ago, but now out IT is limited.
I also stay awake, sometimes up to 2 or 3 am, but if I am up at 7am then for the rest of the day I am pooped 😏

Cold showers can indeed create an instant wake up hahaha.

Cheers and thanks!

No YouTube? That's weird.

I use it only for education 😉

Seriously, there are some photographers which have interesting channels, but for falling asleep faster I watch funny videos too 🤣

Right, I need at least 5-6 hours of sleep and when I go to bed at 10 pm I can easily get up at 5 or earlier 😉

Cheers and !BEER and good night Zac 😊

Only a short one on the odd occasion Hannes.

Only other thing that we watch at times is Michael Macintyre.
Don't know if I have the spelling right, but he is hilarious.

Yeah, in my younger days sleeping was the last thing on my list.
I slipped back into that for the last couple of months, but have recently decided to move sleeping to the top of the list 😁
Now I feel better in the daytime. Bonus!

Cheers and a splendid Good Night to you guys and the kittens 😍

Did I say good morning already? Don't know, so Good morning Zac 😊

Michael McIntyre? I love him, although his voice is a bit too loud for me sometimes 📢 😉

I don't like to sleep, but I do it to be awake and not half asleep the next day 😉

I don't know, but if we didn't greet it's not rude Hannes, so Good Morning also to you!

Yeah, that guy has a rare style of presenting his great jokes hahaha.
I don't mind the loud voice, as I wear a permanent left ear plug to avoid infections in the ear.
Very loud noises like rifles and explosives in the army and later on screeching machines has damaged my ear drum.

I share your dislike of sleep hahaha.

Btw. look at this little Ringneck dove, as very wet here today!

My father fell from a horse when he was a boy and since then he can't hear anything with his left ear, although the ear is okay, the doctors say.
This came to my mind when you said you don't her on the left side 😉

LOl, the dove doesn't look very happy 😉

He must have damaged the inner ear maybe. A doctor wanted to operate to fix my ear, as I think that he wanted to buy a new Porsche with the price that he quoted me hahaha,
Of course I wanted none of it and every morning I put a cotton wad in my ear.
Strange co-incidence that it was also your dad's left ear!

Hahaha, yed, it is very wet here. I saw a strange thing today, as we now also have a pair of African mourning doves here. They look the same as the other ring neck doves, nut their eyes are yellow and they have a red mask around the eyes.

Here's a photo of one and look at the eye.
I have never seen them before!

Yes maybe, just lately a doctor told my dad that they could try to fix it, but he refused, because he has been living with it for about 70 years and he's just of it as it is 😉

This eye looks cool, but at the first moment I thought it was the same dove 😄
