Last Monday was a very busy one. I was a mother for a morning and in the afternoon a very unpunctual singer…

The mothers activity lasted more than what I expected. I was supposed to be at the Ateneo (the rehearsal place) at 12 pm, and I went out of the activity(which was supposed to be on Saturday) just at that time.

I was super worried because we had to make the (sound test), which was really important since there were not many microphones and we all had to recite a poem before each song.

I got home and took the fastest shower in my life, got dressed, made up my eyes (to advance something), had luch, and ran straight to the theater.

After a long walk I arrived and ran towards the dressing room where I found a girl who told me that the choir was already vocalizing. I put on my black dress as fast as I could and went to the stage, but they weren’t there. That scared me even more. I’m not a fan of talking to strangers, too shy for that, but the desperation made me ask an oboe player where they were:

“eh.. he-hello… Do you know where the choir is?”

“Erm, they went that way. I think they’re upstairs, can’t you hear them? … Follow the singing”

I couldn’t hear them, but I sort of knew where they were, because we had practiced there before. I climbed the stairs and the singing became louder and louder until I reached its source. The choir was making half a circle around the piano. All the girls with their black dresses, some make up on and all the boys with their smocking and their hair gel coats turned around to see me without stopping their singing.I took advantage of the director’s concentration on the piano and sneaked between the sopranos. He did gaze me like “where did she come from?” but thank god he didn’t yell.

After some warm up we went to the stage to begin with the sound test with the band. I felt a bit relieved when I saw that many girls were not done with their make up yet, because it guarantized me that we had to go back to the dressing room.

After some songs and settings to the microphones the director of the band thought it properly to let us go finish dressing up. A friend of mine helped me with the rest of the make up (counturning, blush, etc.) and also bothered to try to comb my hair, haha…

After that, we set up the mics for the soloists and the ones who were going to recite the poems and joked a bit until we were called up to stage. Already up, behind the curtains, we sat to listen to some woman say the biography of the two men the concert was dedicated to. She took her time correcting several words she said wrong, and after an hour, maybe, we began the concert.

It was quite fun. There was a part where the curtain closed and we sat again, and some seconds later it opened without a warning and we all stood up fastly like nothing happened, we were never seated, HAHA…

After the concert I went back home and wanted to write this, but I was too tired. Call me crazy, but I like it when I’m busy doing the things I like. I mean, now when I look back, I’m happy because of how busy I was that day. The only bad thing was that I was late to the concert, but the rest was real cool. It is important to know that just like without bad moments we can’t appreciate good moments, without busy time we can’t appreciate free time. Having nothing to do all the time sucks…
