I grabbed my pen and writing pad early this morning, pondering what to share with my Hive friends and mates today, and I thought for a few minutes... I couldn't come up with any specific content. "Why not share the experiences you've gained thus far with your fellow Hiveans?" a small silent voice murmured into my fragile ears. This is what prompted me to write this article. I'll be sharing some of my first seven days here on Hive with you in it.
To be honest, I hope you like this piece while reading it with an open mind.

My Journey

On September 17th, 2021, I spotted a post regarding the On-boarding program and joined the Discord channel. I immediately wrote @starstrings01 a direct message (DM) after seeing his most recent message showing interest in being an onboarder. When I stated my wish to join Hive, he responded almost immediately, offering me a link to sign up as well as advice on how to back up and keep my keys safe.

The first thing that comes to mind for many new Hiveans is to write a "Introduce yourself" post. I wasn't sure how to go about it at first, so I contacted @starstrings01 for assistance. He sent me a recent Introduction post and told me to use it as a sample, with the same tag because the person is also from Nigeria.

I started writing my introduction post, but my phone developed a technical fault in the middle of it, so I had to put it on hold. I got some money together and went to the phone technician to have it repaired. On September 20th, I received my phone back fully repaired and immediately began writing again; within four hours, I had completed the piece, copied the appropriate tags, and published it. I copied the link and went straight to Starstrings DM on discord to apologized for the delay and drop the link... but @starstrings01 didn't respond until September 21st, when he replied and apologized that his phone had been stolen. I felt bad for him, so I asked for his WhatsApp number, which was a lot easier than discord.

On the night of the 21st, I went to check my Introduction post and was blown away by the amount of upvotes and comments it had received. I tried to respond but ran out of RCs and couldn't.

Screenshoot of my Introduction post

On September 22nd, I was scrolling through the platform, opening interesting articles and reading them, digesting how the platform works. I then moved on to the wallet section, where I checked out the incredible features. Then I saw a user application for the newbies initiative, so I clicked on it and read it. In his post, he included a direct link to the original post, so I read it and followed the instructions, but I'm not sure what I'm doing, and because I lack RCs I couldn't comment to ask for more information.

On September 23rd, I messaged @starstrings01 on WhatsApp and he responded after a few hours, signaling he was very busy.

After sending him my picture so he could recognize who I was conversing with, he did so right away, and I went right to the point where I told him about my interest in the newbies initiative, and he explained how the program worked and give me the link to join the SMILE discord server.

Following his instructions I contacted @projectmamabg for my badge, made my application using the sample he sent to me, but couldn't publish it, so I told him, and he quickly delegated 66 HP to me to assist me in posting and commenting. I'm grateful to him, and I promptly published my application before the deadline, leaving the link in the original post as a comment. Returning to my Introduction post, I proceeded to respond to the comments on my post because I had RCs.

My phone's power was out on the 24th of September, which was yesterday, and I couldn't do anything until the Electricity Board restored the light, which was around 11 p.m. All I did was plug my phone in and charge it over night.

Today, the seventh day, I awoke, washed my face, grabbed up my pen and writing pad, and started writing.

Conclusion

I couldn't do anything on the platform for the first 5 days due to a lack of RCs. The truth is if @starstrings01 had been online (his phone was stolen), he would have helped me with some HP. And immediately he returned online and I told him I couldn't post nor comment he delegated some HP to me, which gave me more RCs and allowed me to publish my application for the newbies initiative and reply to comments. I'm taking this opportunity to express my gratitude to him, and may God continue to bless him.

I want to enjoy every moment on Hive, communicate and engage with everyone, especially the crypto thinkers, since I want to learn everything there is to know about cryptocurrency. For the time being, I'll come to a halt.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

The ones I conversant with right now took me 4 days, I learnt it online. I googled how to apply markdown to make your content/article beautiful, I read and digest many tutorials on the HTML codes for certain markdown. Thanks to Google and some step by step tutorial some old users posted. Through it I learnt the markdown within 4 days. I dedicated my time and it really pays off. I still want to learn more though 😀.

Thank you!
