Bizarre, Beautiful Moreton Bay Fig Trees

Look At Those Roots!

At a Botanic Garden here in Los Angeles county stands a long row of Moreton Bay Figs that are definitely not native to California! They are both completely out of context and a sight to behold.

The massive roots ride along the ground twisting and turning in some quite unexpected ways. One thing that strikes me, is how quite often the roots are just as thick as the branches!

Some look like tentacles reaching out far and wide, sinking into the ground far from the trunk. Others look eerily like bulging muscular limbs gripping the Earth as if holding on for dear life.

There's Amanda posing with that big baby bump. We are now in the 9th month! Ricky Jr. could be coming any day now. I'm certainly looking forward to meeting the little guy.

I've never seen roots quite like these. The way they twist, turn and split off in all kinds of patterns makes me wonder if it is random, or determined by something else, such as water supply, weather or some other unknown force.

Here you can see some roots hanging down from high in the tree, slowly making their way to the ground where they will attach and thicken like the ones on the left hand side. How wild is that?

I hope you enjoyed looking at these magnificent trees as much as we did. I must admit, it's been nice spending a couple of hours outdoors after being confined for so long during the lockdown!

They look like the whomping willow tree from the Harry Potter movie. Quite beautiful, honestly never seen something like it before.

Congratulations in advance to you and Amanda. May Ricky Jnr be a light to our increasingly dark World

Awwwwww😍 Will she do C section or will she deliver the baby naturally? Will you assist? Gosh it must feel so amazing and overwhelming to be you right now😁

Hopefully naturally if all goes well! Yeah, I'm a bit freaked out but excited at the same time. I think the only assisting I'll be doing is holding her hand. lol! And maybe getting squeezed.

Ohhh I can't wait for you to share the experience. A daddy's perspective hihi. I hope she will have an easy birth and that the little one will be healthy. It will be a special moment for both of you, I am sure.

P. S. Your hand just squeezed? Maybe pressed with the power of 1000 hammers lol. I heard the pain of birth can be unbearable. And well... She has to squeeze something😂

Those remind me of snakes. I don't like them at all! They are cool in pictures and from a distance. I would be too afraid to walk near them. That is awesome about the baby. Home stretch now! Best of luck!

They are a bit creepy! The roots look like they are going to come up and grab your leg or something. haha

And yeah, the little one is coming any day now! Exciting and scary.
