Remembering Los Angeles Comic Con 2018 - Walking the Floor

We had already gotten our Comic-Con fix on down in San Diego

But since we're professionals we got free tickets for LA Comic Con as well.

Technically we could have come for the full 4 days (Thurs - Sun) but we decided to just come on Saturday to walk the floor. I thought I'd take a few photos to share with my fellow Hive pals.

The Entrance to the convention center

Here it is, the front of the LA Convention center. Just like in San Diego, there is a guy with a loud speaker preaching about sin and damnation to the convention goers. In contrast, there is a very happy group of Hare Krishnas dancing around, beating their drums and having a great time. It makes you wonder which one is enjoying their religion more.

I didn't stick around outdoors for long because I was getting a headache hearing about how I was going to be going to Hell soon. As expected, the floor was packed with booths selling all manner of plush toys and dolls.

Stuffed toys galore

There really are a lot of stuffed toys at comic cons. I am kind of surprised at the longevity of Pokemon for one. There are so many of them!

nice...

I loved the socks that this couple was selling. They had just started this business a few months ago and are doing really well. Some of them are really funny!

As with all the great cons, there was a ton of awesome cosplay going on. That guy with the Drake mask made me laugh out loud.

And of course there were princesses aplenty. I think one great thing about Comic-con is that it gives you an excuse to wear whatever you want and no one looks at you funny.

There was a booth with about 5 or 6 people doing caricatures of fans dressed as their favorite heroes.

We were loving the Lego art, each piece done by a different artist. Very impressive! My favorite, of course is the last one, the Rick Sanchez piece labeled Le Rick.

I love how indifferent that kid looks to all of the people dressed as monsters. I wonder if a kid that age from 60 years ago would have freaked out in this environment.

I always thought they should have released a normal looking chucky doll. That would be scarier in my opinion.

Check out the little exorcist doll.. That movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. Chucky never scared me though, but it did crack me up a lot.

Legion M, an innovation entertainment company that is owned by the fans (I bought some shares back in July) had a huge presence at the con. They were promoting their new movie starring Nicholas Cage titled Mandy. It looks pretty awesome!

They even had the Winona Ryder's suit from the show Stranger Things on display.

All in all I had a pretty fun day walking around the convention center today. Of course it is definitely no comparison to its San Diego counterpart, it is still a lot of fun.

We didn't go to any panels, but we did walk by and catch Elijah Wood talking from a stage on the main floor about some of the Legion M projects.

This convention keeps getting bigger every year, so I wonder if at some point it will start to compete with the big Comic-Con. In a way, I think that it is just the right size. You can actually walk around and stop to look at things.

Well, sometimes it gets too busy and you can get a little squashed in the aisles, but it calms down as you get closer to evening. Speaking of evening, time for me to rest my tired feet! I think I walked for miles today.

This was a bittersweet con from what I remember. Stan Lee was supposed to be there but he wasn't feeling well so we all got in front of a camera and wished him well. He died soon after. I am just glad that he got to live a long and prosperous life!

I see a lot of the conferences and conventions for this year are already being cancelled. They announced the other day that they cancelled Blizzcon. There is a comic convention down in the Detroit area and I doubt they will have that. I would like to attend one some day. Just to say I have been. These are some great pictures!
