Some Awesome Sci-Fi Sculpts From SDCC

Some of the best work you'll find

Comic Con San Diego is something that we traditionally go to every single year in July. In fact, that has been the case for the last 14 years or so.

Freddy is awesome!

Sadly, it was cancelled this year because of the virus. Who knows if it will be back next year!

Pin Head scared the shit out of me as a kid.

I was digging through some old photos and found a few cool images I'd like to share. These are from SDCC 2016 to be precise. If I didn't have all of these photos organized by year, I'd probably have no idea what time period I were looking at.

He's seen better days.

Well, I guess you can sometimes tell by context. There tends to be certain things around in the image that are currently in the popular realm, but with a lot of this sci-fi fantasy stuff there isn't really a time limit to its popularity (such as Star Trek/Wars etc)

Darth Vader looks amazing. You half expected him to walk around. Especially at the Con

I tell you, we were really feeling the loss not getting to go this year. To be fair though, we probably could not have gone anyway being that little Ricky was born right around the time the con was about to start. If I had been 15 years younger, I may have actually been convinced to take a newborn though. Haha!

Stargate is one of my all time favorite movies (and shows!)

Right now, as it is, I can barely make it through the day without falling asleep. But I suppose I got what I asked for! We've been trying to have a baby for pretty much that long - 15 years. We actually had given up and it finally happened. Such is life.

Walter White For the Win!

Most of these were created by the company Sideshow. In my opinion, they are pretty much the top of the line when it comes to making high quality collectible figures. There are a few really great niche companies that do a fantastic job, but no one else does it on the scale of Sideshow.

Don't worry. He can't even see you with that face shield. It's safe.

Of course, I may be biased toward my friend Steve Varner who does a fantastic job with superheroes and really anything that he does. Be sure to check out his work by following the link.

Wouldn't want to run into this guy in the woods...

So hopefully by July of next year we'll have this virus a bit more under control and we'll be able to congregate in giant, mass groups again. haha! We shall see. Until then, enjoy looking at these photos from the golden years of the con.

Awesome stuff! I was all excited about the Hellraiser stuff and then I saw the Stargate helmet and I about went over the moon. I love Stargate as well. I remember seeing the movie in the theater and pretty much having my mind blown by the concept. It will always be one of my favorites. Plus the shows were awesome too.

Yeah man, Stargate blew me away. I used to draw pictures of ancient gray aliens with Egyptian clothes and makeup on, building the pyramids with spaceships in the background using them as landing pods.

When that movie came out, I had a weird dejavu panic attack, because that was pretty much exactly what I had been drawing as a kid. Freaked me out! Maybe there's something to it? haha. I actually have one of those drawings scanned somewhere. I will post it if I can find it.

Maybe so! That is pretty freaky. Maybe it was a past life type thing.

We also have a wax Museum here in my country and the wax figures looks ridiculous because they are only done by local artists Sir @nuthman but still Kids are amazed and excited to see them.
