The rail station of Bahía Blanca was built by British companies and was inaugurated in the year 1884.

Due to the high circulation of trains that were produced by those times, in the year 1903 the extension and remodeling of the station was decided since the benefits of the originally built building were not adequate for the large number of formations that it received daily. The works were completed in the year 1911.

The station is a beautiful construction of more than 100 years; in 2014 it was declared a National Historic Monument.
