Come walk at an apple farm dam!

IMG_5441.JPG

Here we had a little white eye demanding some apple from mommy!

To walk with the conversation of bird song and insect sounds in one's ears, is to be freed from the thought tangents of life's problems.
Just to be free and at peace with nature and more importantly with the self opens the eyes and ears to the small miracles in nature!
Come walk with us!

This post is also for @wednesdaywalk hosted by @tattoodjay and his partnership with @makemesmile hosted by Lady @lizacheng!

IMG_5442.JPG

So dutifully mommy gives the little brat a piece of apple!

IMG_5443.JPG

Wow, instead of being happy, he started screaming again!
Reminded me of some of my grand children :)
This is a smile for Lady @lizacheng.

IMG_5580.JPG

Right, here we have one of the dams on the apple farm!

IMG_8670.JPG

Some big fish in this dam, as this one came to shallows, totally unaware of my presence!

IMG_5600.JPG

Insect noises were very loud and we decided to search for some. This guy is a "Giant Carpenter Bee"!

IMG_5609.JPG

He was wearing yellow sunglasses hahaha!

IMG_3358.JPG

A beautiful blend of a "Longhorn beetle" and the flower colors here!

IMG_3267.JPG

This lady is a female "Carpenter bee"!

IMG_3395.JPG

On an apple farm there should be apples right?
Here is a shot of a pair of "Granny Smith" apples for you!
No! Apples do not grow in the shop hahaha.

IMG_6295.JPG

Finally, just an end of the day shot to give you our peace!

And that's All Folks!

Amazing how mother nature can release pent up frustrations. One can enter a walk angry, or worried and as the walk progresses, the thoughts and emotions slowly start to seep out of the mind.
First place I headed to while at work and getting a call that my mom, aged 51, died in a car accident.

I don't know about you but I have a genuine feeling of wellness and embracement whenever I enter nature. Uncorrupted truths and beauty surround one and things are like they have always been over the centuries. Steadfast and secure nature evokes feelings of wonder, permanence and acceptance within. A time to let the thoughts go in silence and just to be!

Note: I had to go into my files today for the photos, as my old PC for some reason doesn't talk to my camera. Must have had an argument that I didn't know about.

We hope you have enjoyed the pictures, and thank you for visiting a post by @papilloncharity

I've only ever seen a black bee once before on Boa Vista of the coast of africa and it had red markings. Strange looking things!

Sounds like a female "Red tailed Bumble Bee" Depending on where the red markings are.
Might also be a wasp that looks like a bee.
I tried to catch one but he was too fast. They can't sting!

Although if it is a wasp, the it's a different story, as I have had a few innings with those buggers and lost out painfully every time:)

They looked quite bee-like. I bloody hate wasps the stingy little buggers so I have a keen eye for them! :OD

Imagine this! I was strapped next to my ex sister in law in a huge Dive Bomber at a Casino amusement park. The thing twirls up and down at speed.
Something fell into the top front of my collared shirt and I instinctively rubbed it.
A nightmare as it was a wasp. He let me have it on my chest like there was no tomorrow and I was trapped. So they eventually stopped the thing and I got out with a chest that was swollen like King Kong's.

Oh no man!! That is a thing of nightmare!! It's bad enough when one of them gets ya but to be on a ride and have one trapped under your shirt. It's phobia inducing material!!!

I have been stung by them but never anything as bad as that!

The thing is that if they sting once it will be bad, but not as bad as when they hammer you with successive stings. I felt my toe nails curl, not to talk about something else hahaha.

Lol!! I think I have been blessed by only getting one at a time. Never multiple. They are pretty damn tough the little buggers. I removed a nest of them last year because it was in my daughter's playhouse. That was a scary experience but not a single sting!

You were lucky and that was a brave thing to do. Best to stay away from them.
Thing is, I am allergic to bee stings, but not to wasps.
I am supposed to wear one of those SOS bracelets, but I don't wear jewelry, or even a watch, so the thing is lying around here somewhere.

At least bees aren't so volatile!! Wasps are free and easy with them stings.

I can't help feel though that you should wear the damn sos thing!! Just in case!!

In the rural areas of the Western Cape Province of South Africa. Our Main City is Cape Town. The Southern tip of the African continent.

I thought it was somewhere crazy like that. Fancy our timezones being relatively similar. Do you have daylight saving? We put our clocks forward an hour in spring and back again in October, if you don't have it then we will be on the same time in wintertime!

No we are not on timesaving.
Great to hear that our times will be similar during your winter time.
Now winter here and should be summer at your end.

Do me a favor and Google "vergelegen wine estate", also the "lourensford wine estate" and tell me again if you think that this is a crazy place to stay.

These birds look cute 😊 and you may believe me, I do know at least one such child, which does not look so cute and luckily the child is not related to me 😉 lol

I have seen photos of a Carpenter bee before and almost couldn't believe it's a real bee. This bee looks bigger than our biggest bumblebees, but very cool though 😁

Hahaha, children are children my friend and many of them have one or another peculiar habit.
You get the sweet little darlings and then you get the terrors like me hahaha.

Yep, those guys are very big boys and they don't travel alone, as there were about 10 of them whizzing around that bush. Of course that apple farmers are happy with them, as they are big pollinators.

A kind thank you for all of the gifts!

That's right, children are children and sometimes the worst children become the nicest adults - just look at me ;) lol

I believe that such huge bees can carry a lot of pollen and one can do the work of a few bees :)

As always, it's a pleasure for me - you're very welcome @papilloncharity, have a wonderful day 🙂

I still carry my child within me and he is a naughty little bugger lol.
One of those tanker bees can do a whole tree, while ordinary bees can only do a few blossoms at a time.
Cheers my friend!

It's so hard to get good apples here that aren't imported because fall is too far past. I usually eat one for breakfast every morning and caw at my wife if I run out...

Maybe South Korea doesn't import from SA.
The harvests were just completed here and the apples are being exported to many parts of the world.

Lovely photography and nice post, glad to come across it, haven’t seen your work in awhile... we must belong to different communities. I totally agree with your thoughts on nature, I also feel very good when I go out for a walk. I feel grounded and connected with Mother Nature and I relax. It is the best treatment for anxiety, especially now, under this awful pandemic. Imagine how much I suffered when parks were closed here in New Jersey! Thank God everything is coming back to normal, little by little. Stay safe, healthy and happy my dear friend 🥰

Ah! The lady that plays so beautiful with her wire artistry.
Yeah, glad you found us and it's a bit of a scramble here with all of the communities.
We snick out to the arms of mother nature at every opportunity and I can imagine how you felt all cloistered up.
There's no covid in nature and glad that your parks are open again.
Happyb wanderings my friend and be blessed!

Nature, the only place to find peace of mind for me personally, sitting with this lock down not being able to go to the beach or park is really starting to get me down. GATVOL!!!

Apple farm must bring back charming memories of your stay, tranquility offered with amazing buzzing all around.

Thoroughly enjoyed your walk by the dam, fond memories from such a short time ago, it feels like a lifetime already.

Stay well Stephen and greetings to Marian.

Time flies Lady Joan and we are just thankful that none of our friend, including you guys have not picked up this virus.
I really don't think that the lockdown achieved much, except for destroying the economy. People all over here walking around without masks since the start of the lockdown.

Listen to this!
The farm was sold. Bought back by the old very big farm next door. Our cottage and the seven other torist visitor's cottages were all demolished.
The old double story house that was built by the original owner, an Italian POW, with all of the beautiful wooden carvings was also demolished.

The entire area was replanted as apple orchards.

The big new double story house that Cecilia and them built was sold to a fruit company manager for millions, as it has 8 en-suite bedrooms and that's all that remains.
It is now like we were never there for 6 months.
Such is time my friend.

At least the land has gone back to farming, it is a worry that humans are stripping the land for houses. Very sad to hear the old farm built by Italian POW has been demolished since that carried some history on the area.

Life has swiftly changed, yes we carry on not always for the better, always hopeful of better days to come!

Many more dark days ahead Lady Joan.
Things have to get worse before they can get any better and we are already lingering on the edge for a log time.
Not just here as it seems to be the case across the world.

Yeah, it was sad that an entire lifetime was wiped out on that farm.
The way of life and just shows how unimportant we all are!

Sometimes we only leave a footprint, others think they can take it with them, sadly both end up exactly the same way. At the end of a life it is but a journey.

Yep! And so many don't understand that truth my friend.
They rather go out to steal and murder in their desire for riches.
Not knowing that they will lose it all overnight in the blink of an eye.
A sad world that we live in.
