The Second Phase Of 2020: You Are Right On Time

Here's my story:

As a child I watched my grandma at the age of 60 start to read and write. She started attending evening classes. I don't know if she was the oldest in the class but I know for a fact that she wasn't ashame.

She bought her exercise books and would sometimes call me to help her out with assignments or show her how to write the alphabets. Can you imagine that? The alphabets at the age of 60! Why would my grandma want to learn how to read and write at such an old age?

We all know if you start learning alphabets at the age of 2 you'll still have at least 15 to 20 more years to be a graduate from the University.

And that's if you have no delays of finances or find yourself in a bad education sector like ours here where you probably have to write JAMB like a hundred times over before you can be admitted into the higher institution and still have ASUU to deal with eventually. Sighs*

But then if grandma was just starting to learn hers at 60, at what age do you think she would have graduated from the University? At what age would she have gone for the national youth service corps? At what age would she have found a job, be employed and at least work for a few years?

Remember grandma had grown up children (about 8 at that time) and enough grandchildren who were already taking care of her. What exactly was her reason for wanting to still go to school at the age of 60 when she knew time wasn't on her side anymore?

These were all the obstacles facing her, but mama didn't care nor give up. According to her, she had always wanted to go to school but never had the opportunity. Now that all her children were grown, it was time to pursue that dream.

Sadly, grandma died at the age of 70 and though she never got to fulfill that dream but she dreamed it, took an action and got somewhere with it.

Dare to dream my friend.

What was your excuse again for not making it in life? Who are you still blaming for how your life has turned out?

Are you going to keep sitting down there wallowing in self pity all day or are you going to get up and face those challenges and who ever might have hurt you and tell them straight to the face:
I ain't afraid of you no more. I dare to dream, to be different and I won't give up on these dreams of mine. I won't back down neither will I surrender. I will make me, my God and my generation proud. If I don't succeed at first I will just try again. And if I fall I will get up and try again. If at the end I did not succeed I won't beat myself up because I know I at least made an effort. But then if I succeed...then this is me saying "I won!"

This is the second phase of 2020, you can still make things right.

         HAPPY NEW MONTH
