Success Recruiting New Hivelanders to Hive

(Edited)

Hi Hivelanders. I am now approaching 2 years on the blockchain. I started back in August 2018. I dabbled a while unsure what it really was I was getting into and then everyday stuff happened, wasn't really getting any traction with it and i stopped. Late last year I was on my balcony ( which has a great view) working from home answering e mails etc and I decided to just open up my profile and look at the feed

I stumbled across the @brumest #monomad photographic challenge. This was the big catalyst that propelled me forward and I have to thank this and @monochromes as it was their recognition of the shots I was submitting that fired me up and ignited my interest in the block chain.

While I was fiddling around in between dives one day at the dive shop with photos I was looking to submit, I got chatting to @biggypauls whos wife works as a dive instructor for me. We got to chatting and as he is a keen underwater photographer, amongst other things, i suggested he should look into signing up. Seeing as how he had very little interest in social media and only really dipped his toe into instagram (as he didn't like or see the point of the others) I suggested he try it out as there's a real reward for real creative content. Not only did he sign up but i think i've learned alot from him as he's doing rather nicely and getting on well within the community.

@biggypauls & @scubahead Here we both are in our glory proving to the spaminator we are not the same person as we were once accused of pffft I mean really!?

It's often a topic of conversation over a few cold bevarages and recently while chatting to my good friend Yohann, he asked me more about #hive. I explained it's a blog and its for creative content etc etc. He said his wife did a blog online and has for years but found it hard to get any traction. I said no brainer really this is the ideal place to express yourself creatively and the community is very supportive and helpful. Not only did @discoveringarni sign up but @iamyohann was born into the #hive also. They've both got off to a much better start than I did and it will be fun to see their posts moving forward.

And now finally my boss and head of communications, my very own Lt Uhura @millycf1976 has joined the fold. Brace yourselves!

I'd also ike to give a big shout out to @theycallmedan who's been very supportive and as I love to work with video the #3speak platform is proving to be great for me to use. And also @jaynie and the #powerhousecreatives where i have found much support and a home for my Rocket Fuel Coffee morning ramblings

@daveks @liverpool-fan @juanvegetarian also thanks for making it feel like a community . I appreciate it.

Haha this is starting to feel like a thank you speech for an award I have never been given.

Keep on hiving and stay safe out there people wherever you are on the planet

Ciao

Hive can be daunting, complicated and a difficult place to get established. It's great to see you actively recruiting though, and it seems you've had some good success. I believe it is up to all of the older accounts to help support the newer through providing information and guidance. Although, it's always up to the individual to find it within to engage with others, to post with personality and effort and to actively expand their own network...That's if they want to of course. I wish your onboards luck.

Hi @galenkp. Yes you're 100% right there. A little guidance back in 2018 and I may not have wandered away and wasted a year. Glad I came back and it's been good to both get info from the peopl who've been at it a while and also good to have a sparring partner with @biggypauls. We share alot of interests and are neighbours so its been good to dig and learn from each other as we go. I am really enjoying it now which is why I have been able to get others onboard. They have someinteresting passtimes and activities also so should add good value to the #hive

Enjoying it is the key to longevity, and in my opinion, the motivation needed to create better content and engage effectively. If it's not fun then why would a person do it right?

I know so many accounts that would still be around if they had a little support; Of course many who posted so many times a day thinking they had to proliferate the blockchain with work when I think 1-2 good quality posts a day is probably sufficient. Post-spamming is rarely rewarded. A balance needs to be found.

So, be engaged, show passion and personality, apply some effort, and make the reward the enjoyment and the rest will take care of itself I think.

I engage with Paul a bit, most days actually and I've seen you around a little also. I hope you stick around because you seem to quite easily meet the criteria above.

I just call it how I see it, and when it's something positive I say it. Ok, I say the negative stuff too, in a rant occasionally, but not often.

Really a post on my taste. Deserves a reblog and much more curation than it currently sits on. Keep on going, don't stumble on the first bump, and Hive on!

thanks @acesontop . probably the longest post I've done but was feeling happy about the fact that people around me are signing up for #hive and seeing it's potential. I'm enjoying the platform and learning more all the time. Maybe this ones a slow burner, we shall see. Thanks for sharing
