📷 My beautiful Sunday and Petrikov painting on wood

Have a nice day! This Sunday we went to the fair and saw interesting crafts and Souvenirs made in the technique of Petrikov painting...

Surely you have also seen the famous Souvenirs and paintings painted in the technique of Petrikov painting. In those early days, people believed that such bright ornaments hide some magical power that protects the owners from evil looks and thoughts.

Zaporozhye Cossacks petrikivsky painting painted the weapons, houses and even the subjects of the Cossack life.

However, not everywhere on the territory of Kuban existed petrikovskaya painting. It was most popular on the territory of the present Seversky district — in the villages of Serfdom, Shabanovskaya and Smolenskaya.

These days, these patterns are no longer painted on walls and stoves, dishes, but also various handmade Souvenirs, toys, and jewelry.

It is also interesting that the paints for Petrikov painting were never mixed. Most often used red, yellow and green, then blue or pink. All of these colors were designed to infuse the drawing with cheerfulness and natural lightness.

The fantasies of Petrikov masters often intertwined images of garden and field flowers, ears of cereals, bunches of berries and fruits, birds and butterflies, which were an eternal symbol of beauty.

A short video from the Internet:

Hence, there were also compositional varieties of this painting: a separate flower (Kvitka), a twig, a bouquet, a vase of flowers, a frieze and a Mat.

In the old days, paints were made only from natural materials, so these paintings were very short-lived. Every year, the masters had to wash away old drawings and paint their homes again with new patterns. So from year to year Zaporozhye and then Kuban villages bloomed with bright fancy ornaments.

This decorative painting is based on a plant pattern - "marathon". Although many masters often depicted figures of animals, people and birds. For the most part they wore a sort of stylized character. As Nikolai Gogol himself once remarked, "birds in such drawings look like flowers, and flowers look like birds"...

If you have a desire, then you can try your hand! Try to paint a spoon, Cup, or ordinary cutting Board in this technique.

The lesson is quite exciting, and I think the result should please you :-)
