Humming Birds

Humming Birds

Dont be shocked at me doing posts two days in a row LOL, I cant guarantee that will happen often, I am up and about as we have a busy day today, Lulu and I are heading out to help at a food Pantry this morning from 10-12 at a local church, we helped there last week and enjoyed the experience and the feeling we were giving back, so it going to be a regular thing for us, we also have some supplies to drop off again this week some school supplies for children in need in the community.

But i digress from what this post is about so here i go

I have said in posts and comments many a time patience is not one of my strong points, but now that I am retired and the house is almost all setup as we want it, its something I am trying to work on, and a good way to do that is to sit with your camera to try and get some shot of birds, and that's what this post is about, Hummingbirds, in this case, visiting the feeder we have set up in our back yard.

it did take a bit of patience to get these shots, when we were out sitting in the back yard we saw humming birds visiting the feeders now and again, but when I would setup my camera and tripod, and sit for a while they did not seem to want to visit, but I sat there for a while each time and waited for one to come.

her is the first shot i will share in this post, I do have a few others to edit, and will be trying to get more shot of them for sure

now when i say I sat there for a while, the first time which was unsuccessful, I only sat for half an hour, which to me felt like an eternity LOL, but I worked on my patience, and have sat there waiting patiently for over an hour at times, and with these shots its motivating me to work on my patience in the future and try to get even better shots

As I said these are the only three shots I have edited for now, and it's a funny thing when I showed these three shots to my wife and Daughter in Law we all had a different favorite image so I would love to know

Which is your favorite of these three shots?

and if you wondering what the lens looks like I got these shots with her it is setup on my tripod and Gimbal

Now I know I used the feathered Friday tag, and although the hummingbirds meet that category its not a Friday but I used it anyway, call me a rebel LOL

And that’s all folks

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

Hummingbirds have always been a favorite of mine. I love the last photo. Your patience pai]d of handsomely with three gorgeous photos. You may find retirement busier than work life, but at least you get to call the shots!

We are doing okay, given the circumstances. Seems like the whole world has gone crazy. We still have to be careful and keep our heads down. Hopefully, one day things will change. How are you and Jeff doing? When's the wedding?

I'm glad you're settling in there and volunteering. My favorite is the 3rd shot. Patience, Yago 😆. Have a good weekend!

Wow, that is a pretty impressive setup you have there. I like the third picture the best. I was just over at my mom and dads the other day and they have quite the setup with feeders and things for the hummingbirds and oriels. My dad even has a small scope he uses to get a closer look when they fly up. Awesome stuff!

Yeah I am happy with the setup not cheap but a great setup to have especially for wildlife and birding photography which I want to try and do more of :)

Squirrels destroyed our other feeders, but we were told the other day spraying the poles ot the feeders with WD40 stops squirrels from climbing them so we may try that with he next one ;)

have a great day

Gorgeous shots and well done with being so patient! I tried taking a snap of one just yesterday, it was darting around in a flowering shrub and I eventually just gave up.
My favourite here is the third one!

Hi Jay. Glad to see you moved successfully and are back on Hive.

A powerful camera you have and great shots of the hummers. It would be hard to pick a favourite from your photos. The hummer has nice colors on the feathers

P.S. The featheredfriday is now called #featheredfriends hosted by @melinda010100.

I think I like 3 best, although they are all quite wonderful.

I am on a 15 minute break from my work station and needed something nice to look at that wasn't work. This worked out great.

It's very nice for me to come by and get something here in #hive by @tattoodjay, those shots are wonderful, I have moved to a mountain area, so I live surrounded by nature and that is fantastic, in my morning walks I can appreciate the Hummingbirds delighting in the nectar of the flowers, sometimes I get euphoric but with my phone's camera I can barely capture their silhouette, my favorite photo is number 3, although the 3 shots are not fantastic.

Number 3 seems to be the most popular, hummingbirds are so hard to capture they move so fast, even by a feeder let alone in nature

sounds like a beautiful area you are in

JJ and patience, I had never thought these two would become friends, but I was wrong - cool 👍
I like it, as long as you don't go in the park and play chess all mornings with the other pensioners and forget the sunrises 😉 lol

I envy you for these beautiful little birds, JJ, and I love all shots, but the third one most 😊

But you're getting better 😉
I have never managed to wait for an hour, but on the other hand we don't have hummingbirds here.

That's good to hear, and I didn't expect any other answer 😀

Now you gave me the idea to hang a bird feeder on the balcony in winter. Then I can shoot birds almost from my bed 😉

The only problem will be the kittens, because they love birds and might ruin the photos 🤣

They are always looking for the birds. I wonder what they'd do if actually one would land on the balcony in front of them ... a big bird of course 😉

Any photograph capturing a hummingbird in flight is a good one in my opinion, Jay, so picking a favorite is hard. I like the last one best by a smidge, followed by the first one.

Great to see you back on Hive! @tattoodjay
Sounds like retired life agrees with you! Remember, "patience is a virtue!"

Have a terrific day!
