Dot Art No.5 - Pink and pastel tints

5 dot art works.jpg

Another day, another little art work

As I mentioned in the previous posts, I've baked a batch of round ornaments made from salt dough. Unfortunately, some of them have been curling up while baking them. Today's pink round is one of those. I don't like to waste anything, so I'm not throwing it away because it's not perfect. I'm learning how to create dot art while not having the perfect tools (yet), so why should I not use it and see if I have a good flow to create something nice on it? I have bought a few of these wooden perfectly round ornaments a few days ago, but I honestly don't want to ruin them, so I'm saving these for when I have the right tools/know the drill on how to create these perfect dots :)

Today I'm using pink with pastel tints

I have seen very cute dot artworks with pastel tints, and I absolutely adore them. The thing is, I have these not so handy boxes with paint (what was I thinking at the time!) and while I do have a plate to mix the colors at, it's hard to get the right amount of paint out of the box, and not take out too much. It sucks when I don't have a purpose for what's left on the plate, and therefore I've been trying to avoid mixen the colors. I fell in love with the pastel green from the last work, and I decided that I would mix a few pastel tints today to apply on the pink ornament. Today I tried working with the second smallest brush I have here, and acrylic paint.

For some reason, I start with a dot in the middle every time, while I should actually try something different. A dot in the middle is cool if you want to have a perfectly symmetrical artwork, which is impossible if the ornament is not completely round. So I will try to do something totally different next time. Today, I started with some lilac and white and then orange with yellow to creat flowers.

Above you can see the final four steps. I added more white and two shades of blue. I loved the blue so much that I decided to create blue with white flowers to fill up the two big empty parts on the ornament.

And here's the final result of today's work. As you can see, I liked creating the flowers, even though the leaves aren't really dots but more of an oval shape. One side has two flowers, while the other has three but I like the pastel tints of today's work.

Five Totally different artworks

I love to see the progress and different patterns in the tryouts. It doesn't even all depend on the background color I use but also on what kind of shape the ornament is in. It's much more difficult when it's curled up.

Which one do you like best, and why? Curious to read your opinion..

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend <3

Of course I think the pink is the best.

It's my favorite color! 😂

Haha, but it's not the best one :) lol.. I do like the color as well ;)
I finally bought a dot art tool today (they only had one size though) and man that's so much better! I still need to order other sizes online, especially as I went dotting on paper the past days and it's nice to be able to make bigger ones.
I have put some stuff in my shopping cart (including the squeezers) but it will take some weeks to arrive.. Could be that I love using these as well, so thanks again for the tip, would have never thought of that! :)
