Presto! Homemade Pesto :)
So delicious and easy to make, too! Roasted pine nuts, grated Parmesan, 2 garlic cloves, olive oil, salt, pepper, lemon juice, and the magic leaf: garden-grown basil.
Sage, spinach and dill are exciting alternatives. I'm fairly new to this game, but up for trying out different recipes.
A friend-in-the-know tells me that experimentation was inspired by different tastes of pesto in Italy. For example, with or without pine nuts, substituting walnuts for volume and flavor, as well as using different kinds of cheese.
Why not try it at home and see what suits your palate best?
