Portrait of mom - Retrato de mamá
A few days ago I had made some visual compositions based on my mother's portrait, one made in the 80's approximately. Experimenting with painting, I focus on proposing a composition based on the abstraction of an identity, such as the woman who ends up being a mother.
Hace algunos días atrás había realizado algunas composiciones visuales basado en el retrato de mi madre, uno hecho en los años 80 aproximadamente. Experimentando con lapintura me enfoco en plantear una composición que se base en la abstracción de una identidad, como lo es la mujer que termina siendo madre.

Is curious that in this portrait, which I present to you, she is shown to the contrary, with a rather naked look and perhaps for that reason I think she is my favorite, it goes beyond a simple passport-type photo for "errands" like herself I would rate it. For this reason, we should not underestimate the power that an image contains, it freezes a part of the individuals that can be interpreted in multiple ways, I would describe it almost as a mystical act, often thanks to the reflections of Susang Sotang. Does that person cease to be portrayed or does he not alter those identity codes at all over time? Does the image absorb a part of us, a kind of energy that dies or remains there?
Es curioso, que en este retrato, el cual les presento, se muestra al contrario, con una mirada bastante desnuda y quizá por esa razón creo que es mi favorita, traspasa más allá de una simple foto tipo carnet para "diligencias" como ella misma lo calificaría. Por esta razón, no deberíamos subestimar el poder que contiene una imagen, congela una parte de los individuos que pueden ser interpretadas de múltiples formas, lo describiría casi como acto místico, muchas veces gracias a las reflexiones de Susang Sotang. ¿Se deja de ser esa persona que se retrató o no se altera de el todo esos códigos de identidad con el tiempo? ¿La imagen absorbe una parte de nosotros, una especie de energía que muere o queda allí?.

Es una representación con colores vibrantes y parecidos a la imagen de referencia, esta heha de forma rápida, de manera casi compulsiva, como en muchos de mis trabajos que verán más adelante
Paint, marker and colored pencils are the tools that I used in these two compositions. The latter proposes another color palette to the original, however, the shapes of my mother's portrait are repeated, led to something more like a logo or cello. I used a toothbrush and black paint to make that last bathe that can be seen, like drops.
Pintura, marcador y lapices de colores son las herramientas que emplié en estas dos composiciones. Esta última, propone otra paleta de colores a la original, sin embargo, se repiten las formas de el retrato de mi madre, llevado a algo más como un logo o cello. Utilicé, un cepillo de dientes y pintura negra para hacer ese último bañado que se puede apreciar, como gotas.
