Kitchen workout ~Day 1 "How to prepare Porridge (Nigeria recipe)"
Greetings Hivers!
It's a beautiful Friday and the thought of weekend is exciting because some people will get to rest from their various work and engagement.
I will be sharing my Nigeria recipe and procedures in preparing few delicacies.
My mom traveled since on Sunday and left me to handle the kitchen. I wouldn't say it was fun doing the work all alone and still keeping the whole house clean but i will say it was worth it.
And while still awaiting my mom to return, i will keep cooking and sharing the recipes with us.
Today i wanna share the procedures on how i prepared my plantain and yam porridge. I hope by the end of it you will learn and get a knowledge of how we Nigerians prepare our own porridge. I wouldn't say its the same for all Nigerians but this is how i prepare mine so i hope you read through.
How to prepare porridge (yam and plantain)
INGREDIENTS
- Plantain
- Yam
- Crayfish
- Meat
- Salt
- Maggi
- Pepper
- Onion
- Vegetable
- Water
- Oil
- Scent leaf (optional)
PROCEDURES (step by step)
First you wash and peel both the yam and plantain
Scrub the peeled plantain to remove the gummy and hard layers and then wash again
Cut the plantain into pieces, depending on the size you want it and then cut the yam to your desired sizes as well
Pluck your vegetable, wash and then slice and put inside a bowl and set aside
Pound or grind your crayfish and fresh pepper and also set aside
Steam and season your meat and set aside as well
Then after you have place everything and get them ready to be used, you boil your water; am measurable amount
When the water is boiling at a high temperature, you pour in your pieced plantain and yam, both at the same time and leave to boil.
Add your maggi, pepper, crayfish and onion etc (note: you are not to add your salt just yet)
When the yam and plantain get boiled for a while and it starts getting a little softer, you add your salt and then add your steamed meat.
After some minutes, you add your sliced vegetable and add your scent leaf.
Then you add your oil (red or palm kernel oil)
After all has been added, you either wait for about a minutes or two for the oil to mix and flow through the food properly or you use your spatula and mix it by turning the food.
And boom! your delicious Platain/yam porridge is ready. Very tasty and yummy!.
Pick your spoon and enjoy lol.
I am so happy and very pleased to be sharing my work here and i hope with this anyone can prepare Nigeria Plantain or Yam porridge.
Note; you can as well prepare it separately and not mix both together. The method of preparation remains the same.
Do enjoy your porridge till i bring more Nigeria recipes your way.
