The Storm and Thoughts on the Wonder of Nature | LET'S MAKE A COLLAGE: ROUND #84

LMAC-Round84-CombinedCollages.png

Hello everyone and welcome back to my Let's Make a Collage (LMAC) project. My current collage is for this week's LMAC Round #84.

I decided to complete two different collages from the contest photo.

To create the settings for both collage, I began with the photograph provided by @shaka in his Round #84 Contest Post here Let's Make a Collage - A Contest for All Creatives on Hive - Round 84 - ✨144 HIVE in the Prize Pool!.

To create the collages, I uploaded both the contest photo and my free images into Canva. The reason I like to complete my collages in Canva is that I purchased a Pro Subscription. Included in my subscription is free access to all premium images, resizing, automatic and manual background removal features, and filters.

LMAC Round 84: "The Storm"

My first collage represents people and object caught in dangerous weather. To create the setting for the collage, "The Storm", I wanted a background that would be foreboding. I think this background fit the image I was trying to convey:

Once I uploaded the contest image and the background photo into Canva, I positioned the contest photo at the bottom as the landscape portion of the collage.

I then added the following free images I felt depicted a harsh storm that approached suddenly. One image I located was very true to heart for me as it showed a house being swept away. Thankfully, the homeowner was able to make it to shore in hopes she can get to safer ground.

LMAC Round 84 - Version 2: "Thoughts on the Wonder of Nature"

The theme for my second collage is thinking. The scene envisions people and animals just pondering about life's mysteries and wonders. I named this collage "Thoughts on the Wonder of Nature".

I wanted a background scene to represent a desert-like setting. I utilized LMAC's Round 50 Contest Image in addition to the current Round 80 Contest Image. Then I located the following free image to complete my background setting.

Again, I uploaded the two Contest Images and the other background photo into Canva, I positioned the three images to present a striking landscape for the collage.

Then I added the following images I felt would seem as though they were thinking about nature and all its wonders:

Ok forst of great that you joined again I know we both love this contest but with the competition so fierce and so many people joining in it’s hard to reward all, I always intend but sometimes life gets in the way. So that said HOW COOL IS IT TO IMPLEMENT A PHOTO FROM WEEK 50!!! Very nice detail. The first one is the favorite and a pro subscription, nice. All
For @lmac I think @shaka will be honored hahah
You got my vote

Hello. Thanks for visiting. So glad you liked my collages. I'm always leaning towards the landscapes and not so much the dramatic effect. About the 1st one, I have tunnelvision when it comes to the Hurricane Season here, so I thought to make a collage for it.

Can't believe I found the girl about to be blown away in the Canva Pro images.

I appreciate your support.

Yes I always forget you have that every single year. We have strong wind and storms here but the fact that we can call it a hurricane I don’t believe we have. And yes that girl buy also the cute streetlight made it funny. And that’s what a collage also can be a funny story telling Image. Canva pro images I am gonna see what it will cost me. Talk soon

I agree. The girl about to be blown away was funny. She was hanging on for dear life. When you say the competition is fierce, I certainly agree. There are some awesome artists and creativeness in the LMAC members.

I feel that Canva is a bit pricey, but then I don't know how it compares in price to the more popular one, Photoshop.

Will you have time to place an entry this round? If so, let me know when you post so I can visit.

The amount of entries is huge I think there are not that many contests around that have so many entries. But than again not all read and apply to the rules. I saw some forgot the benefits READ PEOPLE READ HAHAHHA.

I did a BEITTA OUTTA SPACE entry in sepia , again I love doing collages because I can be creative.

Yes, you have to comply with the rules in order to participate. Starting any new contest or challenge, you have to READ, READ, and RE-READ the rules to make sure you have a valid entry. Otherwise, you'll be disappointed after having spent time perfecting your content to find out you're disqualified. Happened to me on my first collage.

I remember two years ago, there were music and movie A-Z challenges. That was so much fun. Just like you, I don't think I'll ever tire of creative contests and challenges. Strangely, it soothes my spirit and takes my mind off the pandemic and other issues.

I'll take a look at your sepia space entry. As always, no doubt it will be unique and creative!

Take care.

Yesterday I had got a DM from two persons both wanting to enter a same contest and asked help. I can never refuse it’s a form of paying back to the platform and I always start with alot of smiles and hope they will do great. It takes half an hour each and In the end both did so many rules wrong or didn’t do them at all. For some its so much more a I will ask platform instead of listening and reading. But now both can now not be in the prize eligible entries.

I don’t want to be negative we had some good redfishes that still do very well and that always makes me sort of proud if that’s not weird , and gives a good feeling of what we did.

I want to do what we did but life is also very important and time consuming so not possible for me at the moment

I understand your point. Yes, our Redfish Rally helped many new to the platform. I too am proud when I see them that left our program do well and be successful on their journey in Hive.

The key I feel is not to just give information, but encourage others to read and understand for themselves first. Then ask for direction if more clarification is needed.

Anyone who asks about any contests from reading my posts, I first tell them to read my quick synopsis of the rules I place at the end of my post. Then I tell them to visit the official contest post. With that in mind, I make it a point to link back to the contest owner's post for complete details.

Yes, you are correct in that this past year, we've had more pressing issues on our plate. However, you still find the time and patience to help anyone who requests it in their posts or when they visit The Terminal Discord.

Thanks for your constant help and encouragement to others.

Have a good rest of your weekend.

Yes the commitment to help is still there but like you wrote :

But that’s the difficult thing they see a good amount of hive made and the word contest and brain freezes to think yes this might be a good one to score.

Wrong! And now they are both disqualified and ask me why. And help is one thing but when I do all the explaning I might aswell enter myself. Time is of the essence and it’s family and life on one , then my own account and on 3 the terminal we both know the amount of work Sometimes ( because you do a lot of terminal work aswell )

Oh and please don’t ask for votes dear redfish !

You said it very well. Yes, the objective on Hive is to grow your account; however, the ways in which you go about it conducting yourself when you enter LMCA or any other contest or challenge can produce positive or negative results.

I've made many new acquaintances and engage with them from the LMAC contest. If you want your collage to be viewed by others and supported, you should do the same. You know too well that everyone has a different point of view when they approach the LMAC Round each week. I know some who visit my collages probably don't understand my creative thinking process, but they are always nice and pleasant with a kind word. The aspect I like the most is that other members of LMAC won't hesitate to give tips on other programs they use to create their entries.

Last week's Round, a member used a program (Microsoft Power Point) that is familiar to me. I hadn't used it in a few years, especially to produce a collage. The other day I visited PowerPoint again and checked out the feature to produce a transparent image. I actually completed a collage there. I think I'll use it as a support post (not an entry) for LMAC Contest in another Community to bring awareness.

That's what I like about the LMAC Community...collaboration.

Have a good rest of your weekend.
