Simple time management tips for business

avatar

Working until 18.00, keeping up with everything, and finding time for rest is the dream of every businessman. But when you work for yourself, you can only dream of calm evenings. The day passes in constant negotiations, work is postponed to the evening, and there can be no talk of self-development - there is no time. The principles of time management will help you to have time to work and relax effectively.
The most important thing is a clear schedule and a plan drawn up in advance.

The best helpers are a pen and a simple notepad. Every morning, make a closed to-do list and cross out what you've done. You cannot add tasks during the day - just write them into the plan for the next day. This way, you will not be distracted by the unplanned.

Why is a paper notebook better than a smartphone organizer? On a subconscious level, we take handwritten more seriously and are more likely to accomplish what we planned. But, if the keys in a smartphone are more convenient for you than paper, use applications. For example, Evernote, Wunderlist, Chaos Control, and others.

Let Look Into Some Tips

1. Mode.
Everyone has a different body, so we won't say “work in the morning.” Some are effective during the day, others in the evening. Observe your body and identify your own peaks of activity. Try to work at this time to get more done.

2. Learn to say no.
You can hold an unscheduled meeting or internship for a new employee when all urgent matters are over. The day is not rubber, and your energy reserves are not unlimited. Say no to anything that can derail your plan. As a last resort, transfer new non-urgent tasks to the end of the list, or better the next day.

3. Start your day with the essentials.
No matter how difficult it is, you need to do things from the largest and most important on the list. As long as you are focused, full of energy, and no one has managed to ruin your mood, serious problems will be easier to solve. Bonus: having made them in half a day, you will feel satisfaction - still, the day is not over, and the most important thing has already been done.

4. Do the job to the end.
Do not carry the "tails" the next day. Better to work an hour longer, but do everything planned. When things freeze, it is unnerving and annoying, does not allow you to focus on the main thing.

5. Learn to delegate responsibilities.
The desire to do everything oneself moves away from success. Steve Jobs has delegated about 50% of his responsibilities to other executives to focus on what's important. Take an example.

6. Curb your perfectionism.
Best, the enemy of the good. The desire to polish every detail and work out all objections sometimes turns against you. You waste precious time, stretch the deadline, postpone the result for later - all time management is falling into the abyss.

7. Filter information.
Read extracts from important articles, reviews of bills, press releases. Don't waste time where cuts can be done. There are even services that allow you to read the summary of books and learn the most important from them without wasting time - for example, Smart Reading, Freesummary.

Hello @benie111
Time is a great friend or a great enemy, and it will depend on how we assume it.
That idea of pencil and notebook is good, because writing helps us to better organize our mind, our ideas, we unconsciously repeat when we write, we visualize each word. At least in my experience.

Using note helps in registering stuffs with your brain even though, it wasn't meant primarily for the brain.

Greetings @benie111. Work planning is essential, especially when you have too much to do. I also prefer to write my day plan down on paper, to take it more seriously, although I recognize that the biggest drawback is to include new activities after having everything planned, my wife says that I suffer from believing that I can stretch my time hehe.

Adding to schedule after been planned already is a bad idea. Also, we can put our time schedule on phone too, and make it reminder... Once we spent much time on a task, the phone will ring to remind us of another task that's awaiting us. Thanks for your comment

Organizing our days is the best thing we can do and more when you are responsible for a business, the day only has 24 hours and unfortunately for many it is not enough, so I think you are right in everything you say, focus on what is planned and say no to what is not stipulated in our diary. Time is very valuable so we must make the most of it!

I am glad you got my point. Time is very valuable and yet everyone get 24 hours free of charge every day. But it must not be wasted. Thanks for coming around

Exactly. That's the most important thing. To get thing done more swiftly without spending much time on a task, or doing something we didn't plan to do while we needed to be on another thing. Thanks for coming around
