When it comes staying ahead of the competition, there are various strategies that have proven to be effective. In this post, I will be talking about some ways that can help a business stay ahead of the competition by having a strong competitive advantage over competitors. Below are some of the ways of gaining a strong advantage in the marketplace and staying ahead of the competition…

Performance: This is also a very good way of gaining product advantage. This is also self-explanatory as it means that your products performs better than the products of your competitors. Of course everyone loves products that performs the best and people will pay for high performance. This type of strategy is mostly utilized in the tech industry as makers of tech products try to create products that beats the competition in terms of performance. Having a products that performs better than your competitors’ will most likely increase your sales.

Support: This area is often overlooked, but I have to say that, quality support plays a very important role when it comes to target customers making a buying decision. People always want to buy from where they feel secured and assured incase if something goes wrong or are in difficulty. Yes, no one hopes for something to go wrong when purchasing any product, but sometimes, some things are inevitable or in a difficulty situation. Providing quality support to customers will make potential customers have the rest of mind, knowing that even if something goes wrong, that they will get the necessary support needed to solve their problems. This alone can increase sales – as people will rather buy from where they feel secured and assured, even if the product is of a less product that gets the job done, than spending money on a better product that they can lose if something goes wrong or they get stuck in a difficult situation.

Product Features: This is another great way of gaining a strong hold of the market. However, this strategy is mostly in the tech industry. Everyone wants a feature rich product and people will pay for products that are loaded with useful and quality features. However, don’t get this twisted as it is not about features for features sake, but actually quality and useful features that will be of value to the customers. Who doesn’t like products that are packed with useful features… Adding more useful features is a great way of staying ahead of the competition as customers will most likely prefer to go for similar quality products that has more useful features, as they most times see it as more value for what they are paying for.

Brand-name: While this isn’t that big of a deal when it comes to making sales and staying ahead of the competition, I have to say that brand-name is also a very powerful way of gaining competitive advantage in the marketplace. Naming is key as far as business is concerned. A business with a more catchy name that fits in perfectly with the type of business will most likely gain better attention than a business with a difficult to pronounce and difficult to remember name. This is very important. Same goes to naming a product. A product with a catchy name will most likely attract more customers than a product with long and appealing names. Above all, it is very important to understand that naming is key when it comes to staying ahead of the competition.
