Colonialism can be executed in different ways

avatar

The world has lived in colonialism for centuries, great powers today have remained in the history of many other countries, managing to make - by force - a miscegenation in many places, enslaving in others, or both. There is enough evidence of this: the Caribbean, South America, are living examples.

Yes, I know that in the Project Hope community it is not to talk about history, and that is not precisely what I come here to do, but the introduction I have made is because I recently read something that caught my attention, and that is: Digital Colonialism.

It's probable that someone has read it before but for me it was totally new...

And it made me think about many things and I said to myself: How is it possible to be free but to be a slave? We are more and more dependent on technology, and it is worth noting that everything is digitalized. In general, technology has made our lives easier, I can't say no, but everything has its price.

Recently I was reading about the impact that the internet of things will have, which implies that facility to join our most basic devices and that will be able to process information as if something is running out of the fridge, make the request to the supermarket and be taken home, or that will detect the air conditioning when our car is on the way home and know that it must be turned on so that when we arrive the temperature is in an optimal point. This is great, yes, but it's probably hard for us to see, but digital is taking over our lives in such a way that everything we do will undoubtedly be totally under this feature, we are being totally colonized by technology, which is global.

You have to see us face to face with technology to understand it...

I'm not sure if this is entirely good or entirely bad, what I do know is that it is happening and this reality is becoming more and more noticeable. So there's that

Colonization, as we could learn it from history books, has remained in that, history, but it does not mean that it does not continue to happen, it is the same but it has changed, it is still dressed in total and absolute benefit, but you always have to see the two sides of the coin.

I'll insist: I'm not against technology, I can't be, if it weren't for it we wouldn't have steemit or any blockchain, and this is great, but, everything has its nuances.

What do you think about it?

I'd like to know your opinion, leave it in the comments and I'll be happy to read it and comment.

That's true Technology is revolutionizing everything that humanity does. I like the way you have related it to a colonial state. History repeats its self and new and better innovations are built up and modified basing on the short falls that were in the previous systems.

To a greater extent Technology will always keep simplifying the way humanity does things therefore it is something that we should keep embracing for efficiency and effectiveness in all that we do.

I was struck by the title of colonialism, I thought that since you give that air of psychology to your posts, I thought you would associate history with psychology, however I realize as I read that it is even better, because it is history with technology.

I think like you, even though the technology associated with the Internet, cell phones, computers and others have helped us improve our quality of life, it's also true that they have created a dependency that in one way or another has led to a sense of colonialism.

Greetings friend and thank you for sharing your reflections, which I particularly like.

Thanks buddy, it's good to know you like my publications, thanks for narrowing it down.
I think we've become very dependent, extremely dependent. But without technology we wouldn't be doing half the things we do today, it's paradoxical, but it's reality.
Sometimes I like to vary the subject matter a bit, a new air is never too much.
Thank you for stopping by @carlos84
