Your customers is the reason your business is flourishing, that is why you need to put all effort together to ensure that you treat them well so as for you not to loose any of them. Try all your necessary strategies to see that your customers base is growing rather than reducing. If you are that CEO that is hot tempered, you should make sure that you employ somebody to deal with your customers. Take the banking sector as a case study, you will see that from the security to the entire staff, they wear good smile and make sure that they give you an amazing service when you visit them.

If you are that type of person that can sweet talk very well, you will see your business flourishing so amazing. When your customers are angry, you should know the right words to use. If you can always win them with your sweet talk, you will see your customers base growing so rapidly.

I remember my encounter with Jumia so years back. Jumia is just like the popular Amazon, AliExpress and co that you know. Their work is to render commercial services. By commercial service, I am referring to how they carry out operations which include buying and rendering of services. With them, you can buy goods online without getting afraid of being scammed. They are 100% legit and they have return policy too. So if you order an item and what was delivered to you was not what you ordered for, you can request for return and your money will be paid back to you.

Those platform rendering commercial services are so smart and they are up day in day out to give their best to their customers. Permit me to share the encounter I had with Jumia some years back and how they responded to me. I bought a smart phone worth over $200. I use the pay on delivery method to purchase it. Now I went to their branch in my state to pick the item up. When I got there, I use their P.O.S to make payment, I was debited but the machine read error. The agent told me he can't give me the phone at that moment. He needs to verify if the money went through or not. I stayed for about 3 hours and was tired. Secondly, I had to travel back to my town. So I told them what is the way forward, he replied by saying I should drop the phone or make another payment since they have not received the money. He said if the first money is seen, they will refund me. I did as I was instructed and I collected my phone and headed home. On my way home, I received a call and it was from Jumia customer's service, the dude told me they have seen the money and will be refunding it into my account. They begged me not to be angry that they are truly sorry for the stress. As we were discussing, I received credit alert for the refund. I was a little bit relief. I got home and another call came in and it was Jumia again. They said that they are calling again to show how sorry they are. While discussing with me, he told me that to show that they are truly sorry, the company has decided to dash me $50. I thought it was a joke not until I check my app and see the money there. I was so happy and this boost my love and trust for them to 10000%.

They decided to dash me that amount of money so that I won't be offended and secondly, so that I won't develop hatred for their services. Lastly on that, they don't want to loose their customer to another commercial platform. This is a very smart move.

Why it is important to seek customers feedback before taking decision

You should bear it in your mind that the reason your business is fairing well is because your customers loves your services. Treating them right will always give them that motivation to spread your business to far and near. They will help to market it for you to their friends, co-workers and host of others. This will in return yield you more customers and more profit.

The essence of seeking their interest before making any major changes to your business is because they are the engine room of the business, hearing from them and agreeing on how to make progress is very vital. During my secondary school days, there is what we called parent teachers association (P.T.A) meeting. This meeting is for all the school staff to meet with student parent. Assuming they want to increase school fees, the director will now drop the reason he called for the meeting and wait for student parent to contribute their quarter. At the end of the meeting, the two party will agree on what to do. With such meeting, there will be progress in school activities because the two party are always communicating.

Things to do to win customer's heart

Below are some of the things to do to win customers heart, they include;

  • Learn to share the business road map with them.

  • Surprises them with gifts. This can be done weekly, monthly or yearly depending on how you want it. If you do this, your customers base will grow massively and the love for you will skyrocket. As for me, I prefer every six (6) months surprises. If you continue to do this, your company will swim in profit.

  • Learn to call and check up on them to know how they are doing. If they are having challenges at times, try help them sort it out.

I agree that generally you have to listen to the customers, although there are their conditions for it. I don't think they are always right. In the case you raise in your post, of course, that's another thing.
But the action they took in giving you $50 denotes that they are responsible people. And that speaks well of a company.

I think the major reason business people are in business is because of customers. As such, you need to give these customers what they want. That means you have to get feedback from them.
