"The-would-be" labor in different companies is now quarantined at home. Generally, most Business resources are now idle. Putting other factors constant, Can a car move on its own? Of course not…it needs fuel and a driver who fine-tunes it to whatever direction he wants it to head. The same applies to a business, it needs certain inputs including labor, and capital in order for it to move forward.

It’s not the time to mourn over the current situation; it’s rather an opportunity to rise up and brainstorm some creative ideas of how businesses can recover from losses made in this grave situation. Allow me take up this moment to share with you some measures that can be taken by businesses in order to recover from this situation.

Diversification

Businesses that have been focused on the production of one particular product should consider diversifying their production by producing and supplying other products that are highly demanded in this season. Take, for instance, a liquor business should now venture into producing hand sanitizers for business continuity and sustenance in this season.

Meeting up with departmental heads

Companies should hold online discussions or meetings with their department heads for purposes of brainstorming a way forward for the business in this dire time. There is a saying “Two heads are better than one.” Good business management entails the involvement of other employees in the decision-making process of the business.

Creative and brilliant ideas are within the different departmental heads of the business. The business owner has to hold special meetings in order to forge a way forward for the business in this season. I believe when this is done, business recovery can surely be possible.

Reduction on the costs of production

Businesses should consider reducing the costs of production in order to limit losses as they also target making some profits in the process. Few losses realized can easily be recovered as opposed to the huge losses. This is why business managers have to closely revise the business input system and regulate the costs incurred.

Technological advancement

Businesses need to rely more on technology in this situation. Companies that use robots and other computerized machines are in a much better place to recover any losses incurred in the Covid19 tragedy reason being that production can still continue with only a few laborers that help out in running the machines.

This, therefore, provides a huge lesson and challenge for other businesses that have been heavily dependent on human labor. They have to incorporate more artificial intelligence than that which is provided by people.

In conclusion, businesses can surely recover after the Covid19 situation that is through putting into consideration the above factors.

Wouldn't replacing human labor with AI create a greater job loss spiral which would in turn make it even harder for business to keep going in the long run?

I like your idea about pivoting, and the example of liquor places now making hand sanitizer.

In times of crisis it is time to reinvent ourselves, as simple as that, I think it is time to undertake, and take other paths for those who were left unemployed for example, from their homes fortunately they can get options since perhaps establishing a physical business is not an option, first because it involves a lot of capital and second because of the problem of the pandemic.

Then look on the Internet what alternatives we have to improve our income. There are many, just look for them.

Great point! There are other alternative sources of income that people can engage themselves during this time of the lock-down. True! the internet is one of the places with a wide range of income-generating opportunities.

Thanks so much @franyeligonzalez for the comment.
