Here we are, another week in the books. It seems like it flew right by. Between an ice day and a bunch of presentations that I had to sit through, I don't feel like I have actually spent too much time listening to music.

When I have, it has mostly been country, so if you don't like country music, you might want to stop right here. If you want, upvote before you take of running, but I understand if you don't.

Morgan Wallen released a new album last Friday. It is a double album, so there is a lot of stuff there to unpack. To be honest, I don't remember this guy when he was on the Voice. Back then he was quite forgettable I guess. Now he is one of the hottest things in modern country music.

The album has a song called Seven Summers and over the past six months everyone was freaking out about that song. TikToks and Instagram feeds blowing up with it everywhere you turned. While I agree it is a good song, I don't feel like it is better than the one I share here, also from the same album.

People were comparing Seven Summers to stuff in the Fleetwood Mac catalog and personally, I just didn't see it. Sorry, like I said, good song, but I wasn't feeling the similarities.

Anyway, the whole album is really good and was immediately added to my Spotify as a new playlist. If you like what you hear above, check it out!

You are probably going to laugh at me, but I have probably listened to this song about a million times this past week. Okay, maybe not that many, but when I haven't been listening to it, it has been floating my head like a welcome earworm.

It just has a good beat and melody. I actually like the whole album by HARDY that this song is from. I grew up in the country, not on a farm, but far enough out that I was probably considered a bit podunk. We lived outside a city where most everyone was white collar workers. My dad was a very blue collar auto worker.

I can relate to a lot of the stuff in this song (minus the "dip" and buck blood lines), so it really hits home with me.

HARDY just kind of came on the scene a year or two ago, but I think he has been working behind the scenes writing songs for other people for quite a while now. We have seen that happen a lot lately with artist like Marren Morris being one of the most recently famous.

Finally, we have this gem by Drake White. I love this song, it was immediately added to my "Campfire Tunes" playlist the first time I heard it. If I haven't mentioned it before, the Campfire Tunes play list is my go to list of favorite songs. It is what we throw on when we are sitting around the campfire in the summers and consists of about 214 songs and growing.

Anyway, back to Drake White. I have listened to some of his other albums and while they are good, I don't feel like any of the other songs capture the magic of this one.

From the opening line, his gravelly voice just draws you right in. It is pretty amazing. There is something I really like about this kind of bluesy country music (ala Stapleton's Tennessee Whiskey cover).

I definitely think Drake White is worth giving a shot, even if the rest of his stuff doesn't blow you away like this song.

So that is what I have for this week. If you have been listening to something really awesome, let me know about it in the comments. Better yet, write your own post and use the #weeklyspins tag.

Sometimes I feel we are leagues away in terms of our musical tastes. I knew people in the US who love country so I know it's real. In the UK country is not a popular genre at all. I listen to weird stuff like this, so far away from what you listen too...

In the past I would go into HMV and hear all this weird stuff playing. Is there an equiv. place in the US, perhaps Tower Records.. if it still exists?

No, no record stores in the US anymore. I take that back. There are small independent ones. They probably play some of this stuff. I like everything really, I just tend to settle into certain areas for any given length of time.
