Adulthood is a long journey

It's good to be back again this week, and I must say, I love the three topics. I would have loved to write about my partner; he might get to read it someday.

But one of the prompts that I would love to write on first is adulthood. I have lots to say about adulthood because it is another phase in one's life. The journey to adulthood is a difficult one, I must say, or should I say, for me. Some might say it isn't.

Childhood and adolescence come with lots of fun; one doesn't have any worries. Parents are always the ones to take care of responsibilities and attend to one's needs. It is an age of enjoyment where everything comes on a platter of gold.

Decisions are being made by the parents, and they are always there to make life easy for the child or children. The only thing that I could see as a disadvantage at this age is that children do not have a will of their own. Decisions are being made by the parents, and the child or children have to succumb to them, whether they love them or not.

But adulthood is a different stage entirely; it comes with lots of challenges, and at times one wishes to go back to childhood, where you don't have to stress over anything.

I think adulthood is hard because of the responsibilities attached to it. In adulthood, you have to cater to your needs yourself. You have to work harder to provide for yourself and other people looking up to you, such as your siblings. Adulthood is not a stage of laziness; it is a stage to work harder and build a perfect future.

Another thing that made adulthood difficult for me was decision-making. Sometimes making decisions for one's life is a difficult task. At some point, you don't know whether the decision you are about to make is for the best or not. One has to think deeply before concluding.

The advantage of adulthood is that you have a will of your own; nothing can be imposed on you. You have the right to choose what you think is best for you, and that is a good one. But with this, one can also make mistakes that leave one with regrets.

In adulthood, you take responsibility for every decision you make; no one can be blamed for one's mistakes. Therefore, it requires adequate maturity to live a worthy adult life. One must be reminded that adulthood is not a stage of pampering; it is a stage for real business.

What I thought would make adulthood much better is having a prepared mind that anything can happen at any time. One has to plan over and over again at the turn of a new day because if one fails to plan, such a person plans to fail.

Being physically, and emotionally prepared to handle anything that comes one way will be a good teacher to enjoy adulthood.
