Twitter is a powerful medium. It’s a site that has been around for a long time but it’s a site which I had never put any time or effort into even though I have had an account there for over 8 years.

It has however attracted everybody from the crazies, to the celebrities to American presidents. I know, there isn’t much difference between any of those apart from how many followers they have.

They can all spew out the same nonsense and lately it has all gone crazy.

Between that and the amount of censorship that has appeared over the past year it appears as if the site is destined to drop users and relevance. For now however there is no better alternative for people to get their message out into the wider world and at that it is highly effective.

If a famous person sends a tweet you can be sure it gets seen by millions within an hour. Look at the JK Rowling anti-trans hysteria that is going on right now. Every tweet that she makes only digs the hole deeper as more people jump into the conversation and get their daily fix of trolling or being trolled relentlessly.

That however is only the bad side of twitter. There is also a good side to it as well.

Twitter is a powerful promotion tool and positive messages can get spread from one side of the world to the other within minutes when the community feels like it.
It is a place to see and be seen. It is a place to get your message in front of the world. If that message is powerful enough then it will be seen.

Crypto twitter is a big thing as well. All of the biggest names in crypto right now have a presence on the site and #hive as a community has a very strong user base their as well.

There is lots of activity from our community on twitter to try and promote hive and the different projects being built here. It is a huge recruiting ground for new users if we do it right.

I do feel however that we are not maximizing those efforts on twitter.

If you write a post on any site then one of the things that you spend time on is choosing the correct tags. Whether that is to put it in the right tribe, community or in front of the right people then it’s important to have the right tags in place. That has always been a key feature of blogging.

This goes for Twitter just as much.

I do see lots of people sharing content from hive onto twitter. However, far too many of them only have tags for #hive and are not being more specific to try and get their content seen by more people.

Simple things like tagging @splinterlands posts with #gaming #web3 #games

Tagging personal posts with #blog #writing #writingcommunity
Or if you can be more specific even better.

Did you know about:

  1. Participate in tweet-sharing memes, such as #MondayBlogs, where you share blog posts on Twitter on Mondays. Pretty self-explanatory, right? 10K-15K people participate every Monday (I know because I created the hashtag about eight years ago and see the analytics).
    Ref:Rachel Thompson

15k people that could potentially click onto your hive blog is not a bad place to start. That is just one example.

That is why I would like to see posts form this community shared with tags such as:
#hive #500wordsaday #writing #writingcommunity

I would love to make 500 words a day bigger than just a hive community. I would like to use it to bring more people into hive and blogging. Make it a statement and a challenge for new writers to join and get posting.

It will be slow but with time and effort we can bring in new users and grow together.

With the amount of tweets you make in a day I'm sure you get seen in a lot of different places. 😂

Small things can make a big difference in the long run. We just need to keep adding small steps every day.

We do have a huge amount of talented people on this chain and I want to see even more joining. That's why it's important to advertise the space and bring in lots more good people.
Communities and contest will be a big part of this. Make it fun to be here and people will join.
