I saw a comment on Twitter on a lady's picture and the impression that was passed by this comment shows a lot of people are not educated or let me be more subtle - speak without knowing the actual situation or conditions of things.
Quickly, let me put you up to speed with what happened. This lady posted a picture of herself and some part of her skin are darker than the others. Boom! The comment that was passed was that she should ensure she bath before bathing and cleanliness is next to godliness. Really? If not for anything such derogatory comment could make the lady lose her self-esteem as a woman among other things. The patches on her skin is what health care experts calls Hyperpigmentation.

Hyperpigmentation is simply explained as when patches of skin appears darker than the surrounding skin. It is said to occur when the skin produces excess melanin - melanin is the pigment that gives the skin its color. It can affect people of all skin types. The face, arm and legs can be affected by a type of hyperpigmentation called melasma due to exposure of the skin to sun. It could also be caused by skin inflammation resulting from cuts, burns, acne etc.
Hyperpigmentation is harmless to the body but most people want to get rid of it to avoid a scenerio like the one that I just explained above which could be so annoying and disturbing.
