A Walk through Swinepark Wood

We had a walk in the strangely named Swinepark Wood this morning, but before we entered the wood, we had a walk down a nearby road as it looked quite pretty.

There was a lovely village pond on the left. It looked quite idyllic in the sun. It reminded me of a John Constable's painting who painted local landscapes in the 1700s.

We finally arrived at the entrance to the wood in the village of Lea, passing a house with some ducks and geese in the garden. Geese make great guard dogs!

We followed the overgrown footpath and descended into the wood via some lovely stone steps.

At the bottom of the steps, we found a bridge covered in moss overlooking a small brook. If felt quite damp down there.

We then ascended into
Swinepark Wood, where we found sycamore and pine trees and a bit more sun.

We passed the lovely smelling rhododendron bushes, still following the footpath down to the bottom part of the wood.

At the end of the footpath we found a lovely patch of bluebells and wildflowers.

The problem with retracing your steps to the start of your walk is that, when you go down steps, you then have to walk back up them!! Whose idea was this?!
