Hello all,
My collection of Splinterlands cards is now valued at over 1 million dollars, making me a SplinterMillionaire! This is incredible. To think that some collection of silly gaming cards can be worth so much, but this is the magic of Splinterlands.
Could there be a pullback? Sure it's possible, but the bullishness behind this game is insane. I consider it the Bitcoin of NFT games, and that should be high praise. As an experienced crypto dragon, who has been here before most of you had any idea what crypto even was, this is the only NFT game I have put any serious weight behind, and it hasn't disappointed.

So, soooo early. We've been growing at 5% per day for over a month now. If that were to continue for the next 42 days we'd hit 1 million active accounts (from 129k today). Even if it falls way short, to think we would double or even triple the number of accounts by the time Chaos Legion comes out is not crazy.

How does this work though? Is that like saying you have a million dollars worth of merchandise? How long would it take to actually have the million burning a hole in your pocket? I can't imagine an individual spending a million to be competitive in a game, though some do spend insane amounts on games these days but typically, they get nothing out of it. This is obviously different since the money spent has resale value. Can't quite wrap my head around this business model though.
It means that the market value of all the cards I hold add up to that value somehow. To be fair, if I tried to sell all those cards at once, it would crash the market I wouldn't be making a million, maybe only 0.3 million? Hard to say, but I have no plans on selling the cards.
You can make money by renting your cards, and I enjoying playing. I run a top ten guild so I have to stay competitive.
Do you need to spend a million to be competitive, certainly not, just look at my win rate, heh, I get beaten plenty often, by players with much lesser deck values. There are level caps and skill needed, certainly it does help to have a great collection of cards, but it's not everything.
The business model? Just think of Magic the Gathering. They made tons of money selling cards. The Splinterlands team sells cards, and spellbooks, and other things.
I only signed in to the site recently just to claim, whatever, ten bucks or something worth of an air drop. Noticed I have about 22 cards, no idea how they got there. $100 worth maybe? I'm thinking, WTF? But okay.
Don't know where to start. Looked at Peakmonsters thinking maybe I'll rent these things out. Got lost on the site. I think if I had time I'd probably dive in but I feel like I'm too late and it's too expensive. I'm probably wrong but I also can't force myself to like something. Not really kicking myself for not getting involved but I am kind of blown away by all the money flying around. That's pretty cool.
At least I can still do swirly art and nonsensical posts. So there's that at least...
You can play still renting and you don't need much funds for that. It's an entertaining game if you are looking for a game more than for an investment, isn't late to enter imo. Is the best of Splinterlands unlike Axie you can play with a tiny initial investment.
These kind of games aren't really my preference. Can't imagine spending time on it.
I would rent what cards you have using

then click the pile which should have the number of cards you selected
Then Rent
Then LOAD - it should fill out a price for each but you may need to adjust slightly (go a touch lower imo)
Then confirm. All cards will be up for rental and you'll make a few DEC per day :)

Damn! What an achievement. I've been playing for 5 months now and I'm progressing very well, although I'm lack of the real income (lack of cards and levels) to boost my rank even more. I'm waiting for new packs to come so I can build up my decks and be more competitive.

And to think this may just be the first round of hive-based millionaires in the making! The rental market was a genious move by the SL team, and the new changes should make it even better.
I tend to think this success will push through to the hive price, so I am hedging a bit in that direction, but certainly not ready to sell all my cards while it is this hot!
