#1 Hiking the Oak Oasis Open Space Preserve and the view of San Vicente Reservoir

in The City of Neoxianlast month (edited)

Good Morning Hive nation, here is my first hike post the wife and I tackled last Saturday. The Oak Oasis Open Space Preserve, located in Lakeside California and is a heavily trafficked hike that loops around with a easy level skill level. This trail is also Dog friendly but must be leashed. The length is a 2.6 Mile Loop and the elevation gain is only 311 feet but we did have to drive up the mountain to get to.

The hike was obviously easy, with a couple of up hills that will take a breath or two from you but isn't bad at all. The promise land is getting half way thru it and seeing the San Vicente Reservoir. San Vicente Dam was constructed in the 1940's and the dam was raised in 2016. San Vicente is a deep, steep-sided impounding reservoir on San Vicente Creek, approximately 25 miles northeast of San Diego. It currently has a depth of 306 feet when full. It is the largest of the City's reservoirs but is seriously low. Check out the boat launch ramp picture and you can see what I'm talking about. This is definitely a beautiful view and I must come back one day and stay til the sun sets but the problem is these parks close at 6 am and your supposed to be out. So we shall see how we pull that off one day.

The first three photos are screen shots from my favorite trail App. The AllTrails App is just amazing, enjoy.

Just the beginning of the journey of the rules and regulations.

1.jpg

Should we go left or should we go right, that is the question and we chose correctly to get the the view of the reservoir. Was a downward hike to get into the valley to the side of the mountain with a view.

2a.jpg

In 2003 the Cedar fire destroyed this entire mountain and many other places as well. I remember the stress of evacuations and how so many structures burned, it was a massive fire that burned 273,246 acres, destroyed 2,820 buildings (including 2,232 homes) and killed 15 people, including one firefighter. It was a panic and was a sad time in San Diego.

2.jpg

I have a thing for tree photography and I love both alive and dead trees. To me its a beautiful thing, show's us in life that we come and go but our energy will always remain.

3.jpg

This was a massive tree for sure and I can just imagine how huge it was before the fire. Love this shot of the trail going into the wilderness.

4.jpg

Another amazing tree that is actually growing out of the rocks or should I say was growing out of the rocks. Looks like it has died but I honestly didn't even look at it and check. Sure wish I would've looked to know. Maybe on the next trip here but that will be along time from now, cause I have many more trails to accomplish.

5.jpg

Here what looks like the pump for the Minshall house for this water pipe, that possibly was the well but I am not sure.

6.jpg

This photo is actually not mine, had to take it off the internet so you can see it better because this sign is severally weathered. It talks about the Minshall house that was built in the 1930's and they renovated it in the 90's but unfortunately it was also a victim to the 2003 Cedar fire.

7.jpg

When you finally see the San Vicente Reservoir and you now realize that you went the correct way to see the view. Sure feels good to go the right way when your trying to get to what you came for.

8.jpg

At last the San Vicente Reservoir and Dam, the place to take the break and feel the energy within the hike and view on this day. One of my favorite shots, with the wife and all around just a feel good moment. We stayed here for about an hour. Heard some other hikers but they never came down to this part but heard them and were pretty loud. Kid's theses day. Also was two older gentlemen come thru but they moved on rather quickly. So in all it was a nice hour with the wife and mother earth. I will definitely come back to this more than once.

9.jpg

Another shot without the hiking boots and another thing that I have thought of, they say its hard to find the right boots but I bought a great pair. Now I know one day when I do some real big miles, that might all change. Right now we are focusing on 3-10 mile hikes, seeing that we are new at this in a sense.

10.jpg

Here is a nice panoramic shot that I took of the San Vicente Reservoir.

11.jpg

My favorite shot and I think this will be my motto to do on every hike. Really feeling that all this is giving me fuel for my soul. Connecting with mother earth and especially being out in the Sun. I just cant get enough of it and I will for sure keep this going. I had another photo here first of the boat launch ramp but for some reason after two uploads of the photo, they were broken links. you can see it over my left bicep, what you cant see is the new smaller ones off the big concrete one. The water is low and that is definitely an issue for California. Within the next ten years its going to hurt more because of bad politics and policies.

13.jpg

Not sure if I care for this type of action because I feel like what matter most is for humans to leave these trails and areas alone, leave it like humans were never there is how I feel about things.

14.jpg

and for the last shot of the trip, I just love how you can see the light surrounding the darkness, the dead tree thru the trail is pretty cool and unfortunately no matter what, none of my photo's do justice to all that you have seen. You just need your own eyes on things to really appreciate them.

15.jpg

The end. I hope you enjoyed my hike and photo's that if have shown for today. Just to show them off, even though they are amateur makes me still feel good and like I said I'd rather share here with the Hive community than give them to LameBook. So thank you for taking a look at my blog, I appreciate the love as always and stay tuned for some more of my great adventures and hikes. God Bless all of you.

The fire at san diego caused a huge mess, hope nature has recovered from it? and the man in the post, i think that should be you judging with the shoe but still need to confirm is that you?

Yup, that's this guy. Lol. but yeah that was a crazy fire, where I grew up in the mountains when I was younger, mostly everyone lost their homes. Sad, but now they all have new houses and two stories, sure lost alot of memories though

I have no issue with your post but it doesn’t seem to be finance related so downvoting to remove leo rewards

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Maybe as a Hive community member it would be more of a positive way to ask why I used it and that would've reminded me not to use it because it wasn't related to finance, I copy and pasted from my sneaker posts and accidentally missed taking off the Leo one too. An honest mistake but since to many here I want to be in the negative downvote scene, so we can all see just another reason why Hive Coin is at .12 cents and falling more but do your thing.

Posted via neoxian.city | The City of Neoxian

LOL who actually cares about the price? I sure as shit don’t! I do my thing thizzle just like you! No sense I arguing over pennies mate

Oh, I'm definitely not arguing or trying to and not worried about the pennies, I just want the community to support each other and communicate better. I am not a fan of the downvote and I haven't every used it nor will I. It is obviously your choice if you do but its not for me. Also, I really care what the price is of Hive as do many in this community, I have been here way to long to see it at 12 cents.

"support" comes in different forms: how is downvoting content also not support? So if you were posting scams or farming rewards, I shouldn't downvote to "support" the networks and community?

I also don't get the point of high prices, apart from personal gain, surly low prices are better as it allows more people to get in and access the network and own a stake, isn't that what this distribution mechanism is all about? Getting it into as many hands as possible.

Neither of us has control over who want to sell or buy at any price that's the beauty of it to think downvoting or this or that affects the price is a reach in my opinion. If downvoting was so bad, then BLURT would be x10000 the price wouldn't it?
