In my last post SET A GOAL | IT IS ESSENTIAL TO YOUR SUCCESS IN LIFE I addressed the importance of goal setting for an individual and the effects it has on our developmental process as a whole. I emphasised on the need to figure out what you want and align your goals with it. The result will be tremendous and laudable.

Today, I will go a little bit deeper by talking about how precise goal setting can have a long term effect on you. I made the foundation of this post in my previous piece and it will help you to understand more about the topic of discussion. You can read more about it here.

Precise goal setting is a technique that many great people have used to get to the heights that they are today and it is still being used by people that are on the road to actualizing their goals. When you have a precise or actual goal you would not beat around the bush but rather go straight to the point. Precise goal setting is more like saying you have a strategy - it is called formation in my favorite game of football.

You should always have a plan and strategy that you can follow to achieve your goals, perhaps, you have not been in the right shape you want in your business or you have been failing in your finances and so on. You are not likely to achieve your target if you are carefree and not guided in the process of its actualization. Your plan should be nothing less than strategic, purposeful and well proven to be effective for that particular line of interest with which you want to use it.

Be ready to have strategic goals that suit you - it's essential.

The reason is hinge on the basis that what works for Mr ABC may not work for Mrs XYZ and on the other hand what Mr ABC could achieve as a result of his ability and strength, it is possible that Mrs XYZ does not have the strength to perform in that capacity.

The power to meet your target, achieve your set goals and meeting up with your strategic plans is in your hands. You can only do this by yourself - discipline, determination and diligence comes to play.

You need to consider some factors in order to be able to make precise strategic goals.

Make specific goals. Every goal should be specific and precise, that is, you should have a particular thing you are aiming at. Sometimes you may have actualized a particular goal but you wouldn't take cognizance of it because you made vague goals and not specific ones. Consider setting a goal such as "I will be saving 50,000 every month towards building a warehouse for storing my goods" rather than "I will build a warehouse before the end of the year". The latter is more precise. It is easier to work towards bringing your goals to reality when your goals are precise.

In addition, make sure your goals are measurable and realistic. Don't create goals that you may not be able to achieve in many years to come. Let it be within your reach. Don't dream of making millions in two years when you know your job can't make it possible unless you want to steal.

Above all make sure it is achievable. It must be reasonable to be achieved with a given period of time and you should have the ability to pull it through. You have have failed already when you set goals that are unreasonable.
