Album of the Day: Faith No More - The Real Thing

Have you ever wondered what would the Red Hot Chili Peppers sound like if they were actually good at music? If the mainstream hadn't swallowed garage rock with a huge spoon of mediatized marmelade? If you could actually listen to what you should have been listening as a teen, and not what was served to you on radio or on MTV?
Well forget about Greenday, put Anthony Kiedis in the trashcan, and rip off those nasty 3 Doors Down posters of your wall before you catch chronic-bad-taste.

A bit more about it:

Faith No More is an American rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1979.
The band underwent several early lineup changes, and some major changes later on.
The current lineup of Faith No More consists of Billy Gould, Mike Bordin, Roddy Bottum, lead guitarist Jon Hudson, and vocalist/lyricist Mike Patton.
After releasing six studio albums, including best-selling records The Real Thing (1989) and Angel Dust (1992), Faith No More officially announced its breakup on April 20, 1998.
The band has since reunited, conducting The Second Coming Tour between 2009 and 2010, and releasing its seventh studio album, Sol Invictus, in May 2015.
Following the touring cycle of Sol Invictus, Faith No More went on hiatus once again.

According to Patton, he first met the band during a 1986 gig at "a pizza parlor" in his hometown of Eureka, California. Two weeks after joining Faith No More, he had written all the lyrics for the songs that would make up the Grammy award-nominated The Real Thing, which was released in June 1989.
If you know anything about Mike Patton already, you know that everything he touches turns to gold.
Add this up to a band that already has a solid alternative rock vibe, and you have Faith No More.
In November 2019, the band made the announcement that they would be reuniting to embark on a 2020 UK and European tour. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the start of the tour was postponed until June 2021.
