| "Nothing will change
With a curve warning
In their faces I see the fear
There are no more fables in the city of fury."

Greetings Hivers! Today I bring you my opinion and analysis of a song called "En la ciudad de la Furia " by Soda Stereo, being one of the most important and influential bands in the history of Latin American rock; formed by its leader and vocalist Gustavo Cerati, Zeta Bosio and Carlos Charly Alberti.

The story of this song goes back to the adolescence of Cerati:
"When I was a kid and I broke up with a girlfriend, I used to write songs and send them to her on cassette tapes. The fundamental riff... I must have done it on the guitar when I was 13 or 14 years old. It must have been for an ex-girlfriend. The singer added that "what we did later, transforming it into a Soda Stereo song, was to write lyrics taking into account characters that I also drew as a kid... a sort of terrestrial Icarus, so to speak. The song was composed in another very early time in Argentina, in 1988 or 1989, in the middle of hyperinflation and unleashed fury, so it was not difficult to write about a city of fury (Buenos Aires)".

Personally, this song describes the relationship between Gustavo Cerati and Buenos Aires, personifying the city through poetry. When I read the lyrics of the song, I see it more as the description of a celebrity going through a somewhat dark, suffocated stage, who cannot go out to tour the city freely except at night and describes the city, with which he establishes a certain relationship, as an observer from another plane. Some parts of the song that interested me were

"You'll see me fly, through the city of fury, where nobody knows about me and I'm part of everyone", I perceive that it refers to going out to tour the city feeling free in that moment, the city where nobody really knows it but it's part of everyone, it's part of the culture of the city through its music, everybody knows its songs but nobody really knows it.

"You'll see me fall, like a bird of prey, or like a wild arrow, or in between fleeting flights". I feel that he speaks of the anxiety of boarding the city and not being able to do so, so when the time comes he does so in a desperate way, or even on a short, quick, fleeting tour.

"I will undress you, through the blue streets, I will take refuge, before everyone wakes up ", I think he describes that he would like to know and go through the most hidden places of the city in a discreet way, looking for the possibility to hide before everyone wakes up and can be exposed.

"You will let me sleep at dawn, between your legs", Gustavo explains that after doing the tour or walk around the city that he so much desired, he feels contained, he expresses how the city embraces him.

"You can hide me well and disappear, in the fog", Buenos Aires sometimes has a very thick fog, especially before the dawn starts. I understand that before dawn the city gives him the possibility to hide just before the city disappears in that thick fog, then dawn, his wings melt, he is no longer free, a free man prefers the night, it is where he felt he was.
