Hoy les traigo mi opinión y análisis de una canción llamada "Hoy" de Residente, cantante y ex integrante del grupo musical Calle 13, y como tiene relación la letra y las escenas plasmadas en el vídeo musical de la canción. El cantante, compositor y productor boricua René Pérez Joglar mejor conocido como "Residente", el pasado 2 de Julio del 2020 lanzo el tema llamado "Hoy", caracterizado por su estilo particular, música vibrante y pegajosa.

Today I bring you my opinion and analysis of a song called "Hoy " by Residente, singer and former member of the music group Calle 13, and how the lyrics and scenes captured in the music video of the song relate. The Puerto Rican singer, composer and producer René Pérez Joglar better known as "Residente ", last 2 July 2020 launched the song called "Hoy ", characterized by his particular style, vibrant and catchy music.

Este tema habla sobre la sexualidad y la química que se puede manifestar entre dos personas. Al analizar la letra, se realza con metáforas y simbolismos sobre la relación y la atracción entre un hombre y una mujer a través de la sensualidad y la sexualidad. El vídeo muestra el poder de atracción entre una pareja que se encuentran en un bar. Estos, perciben un encuentro carnal y son poseídos por su instinto animal que los lleva a un encuentro casi sexual. Al salir del bar, recobran la lucidez, y sin comprender la situación en la que se encontraban, regresan a sus vidas como si nada hubiera pasado.

This topic talks about sexuality and the chemistry that can manifest itself between two people. By analyzing the lyrics, it is enhanced with metaphors and symbolisms about the relationship and attraction between a man and a woman through sensuality and sexuality. Pero viendo un poco mas allá, lo veo como una crítica a la influencia que tiene la música, las fiestas y el alcohol en las personas, tal influencia no distingue entre etnias, lenguas, culturas, religiones, etc, etc, etc; pues esta adormece los sentidos y hace actuar como animales en búsqueda de placer, en el vídeo se observa que los protagonistas al momento de salir del bar vuelven a la realidad, se acaba la música, pasa la borrachera y vuelven en si. Es por ello que pienso que simplemente Residente quiso aparte de transmitir un mensaje entre lineas (como siempre lo hace en la mayoría de sus temas), quiso hacer algo para desconectar y ya. Pero el arte existe para que cada quien saque sus propias conclusiones de una obra.

But looking a little further, I see it as a criticism of the influence that music, parties and alcohol have on people, such influence does not distinguish between ethnicities, languages, cultures, religions, etc, etc, etc, because it numbs the senses and makes them act like animals in search of pleasure, in the video you can see that the protagonists at the time they leave the bar come back to reality, the music ends, the drinking passes and they come back to themselves. That's why I think that simply Resident wanted to transmit a message between the lines (as he always does in most of his songs), he wanted to do something to disconnect and that's it. But art exists so that everyone can draw their own conclusions from a work.
