Hello everyone! Today I bring you an article dedicated to my house of studies, the University of Carabobo, where I will be talking specifically about the Faculty of Education Sciences and its wonderful architectural design and artistic value. Without further ado, let's get started.

The FaCE was founded in 1962 and is part of one of the seven faculties of the University of Carabobo. It was formerly located at the entrance of the university campus and used to be called the School of Education. The building was small and solid but with little capacity to house many students. So it was moved to the northern part of the campus and the construction of a new building was started.

What you see on the screen is the new FaCE. Its structure and style is modern. It is made of concrete, covered with bricks, iron and cement. Windows and doors of a medium size, made of iron and glass. It consists of four levels; first floor, second floor, second floor and third floor. The disposition in which the rooms, apartments and offices are located allows an appropriate traffic fluctuation. As you may notice, this is due to its large corridors, stairways and open spaces that facilitate the passage of students, teachers and faculty authorities. It also has an elevator that contrasts with the concrete of the entire building, being made entirely of glass and iron, giving modernity to the place.

Interestingly, the building also seems to take on a characteristic of the Venezuelan colonial style, and I am referring of course to its large central courtyard. This space allows an entrance of light and ventilation, as well as a large garden. In addition to being a recreational space for its users. Being in the center, it is connected to the whole building and is a perfect location to admire some of the artwork that adorns the building. Such as those of Carlos Rojas, a renowned sculptor from Valencia, who donated part of his work, the Harlequins series, to the faculty. You can see below his work where you can observe several human figures that are kept suspended in the air thanks to strong iron fences, with a great colorful and histrionic expressions.

The FaCE also responds to a sense and duty with art and culture, so an Open Air Museum was inaugurated, where several plastic artists donated their works. As I mentioned above with Carlos Rojas and some other artists such as Vladimir Zabaleta and Jesús Salazar (son of Braulio Salazar). This museum is in the hands of the Braulio Salazar Art Gallery. Some works have been taken by the Gallery for restoration, so you can see that some of them are in a critical state. The recovery of this space is expected.

In the vicinity of the FaCE there is an amphitheater where lectures, graduations, degree presentations, thesis defenses, ceremonies and academic events are held. The shape of this is almost that of a closed acoustic shell. It is made of the same materials as the FaCE, concrete, iron and brick. The internal space can accommodate about 700 people. It is part of the charm of the campus, thanks to its aesthetics and functionality.

073-01.jpeg

To conclude I must say that the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences, which is adjacent to the FaCE, also has the same design. This is because these buildings were part of a university campus recovery project. The project was intended to create one of the best university campuses in Venezuela but unfortunately fell through for various reasons. It included the realization of an Aula Magna of great potential. However, the FaCE is still an imposing and strong building, which contrasts with its surroundings full of vegetation, mountains and fauna. I am very proud to belong to this faculty. I can only say thank you for stopping by and admiring this great architectural work.

Hello dear friend @carminasalazarte good morning
What an imposing structure, I like how they have built the building, leaving a huge entrance of light inside and the large corridors so that you can move comfortably inside. Art exposed to the outside is the icing on the cake
Thank you very much for letting us know about your home.
Have a nice day

It is indeed a majestic and beautiful concrete building this Faculty of Education Sciences, dear @carminasalazarte! Besides, these open spaces in the constructions of Venezuelan architecture do not cease to amaze me.😊
I find Carlos Rojas' Harlequins series a rather strange solution for decorating a university, but the other abstract installations you show are very interesting.
Thank you for your contribution to our community!

Thank you very much for your comment! The faculty is beautiful and takes many influences from various architectural styles. I'm glad you liked this approach.

With respect to Carlos, I think that decision is also due to the fact that it was a project that was intended to decorate the entire municipality of Naguanagua, where the faculty is located. Although you are right, it is a bit strange but ultimately fascinating. A big hug.
