Hello everyone and all members of the community, how are you friends today? I hope and pray that all of us are always given health, happiness and also patience in living this life. Since I participated and tried to consistently write on Hive, I have become more sensitive to my surroundings. I find it easier to get inspired by whatever I see and visit. I am very happy, when my writing hobby can be useful for me and also for others

This time, participating again in the Architecture+Design Community by sharing my experiences and impressions when visiting buildings that have designs and architectures that appeal to me. A few days ago, I visited one of the Food Courts which had just held its grand opening in my city. In contrast to the Food Court in general, the shape of the building is very unique and interesting to discuss.

Polonia Sky Park
The location I visited was Polonia Sky Park. This place is located on Jalan Imam Bonjol – Medan City and very close to Medan City's old airport, Polonia Airport. The Polonia Sky Park building is located in the area / part of the Indonesian Air Force Headquarters. So, the naming of Polonia Sky Park really reflects the condition of this place, with Polonia airport and air force headquarters.

Polonia Sky Park is the new favorite hangout place for Medan City residents. Its strategic location in the city center, ample parking, various and delicious food and beverage choices, and this culinary place has a unique design that is very unique and attracts the attention of many people.

The core building of Polonia Sky Park is in the form of neatly arranged domes. The dome is white and very beautiful to look at. This building is very beautiful when seen at night when the lights from Polonia Sky Park. I came to this place twice, first in the evening and the next in the afternoon. At night, I brought my family and I didn't get a seat and chair when I came here.

My first impression came to Polonia Sky Park, I tried to sit in the indoor area, which is inside the big domes. I noticed that the dome was too close to the floor and when there were too many visitors and the sun was too hot, Polonia Sky Park would be very hot. When night comes, my whole body sweats and that makes me come again the next afternoon to get comfortable.

1656030837868.jpg

I think, the architect of this building may be inspired by the building abroad. Usually, food courts in Indonesia use a fairly high distance from the roof to the floor because to prevent overheating and also to make angina enter the building. This Polonia Sky Park should use a lot of fans to make this location comfortable.

The outdoor part of Polonia Sky Park is a favorite of every visitor. We can see large umbrellas that are similar to the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, Saudi Arabia. Outdoor spots are preferred because the wind is more comfortable and visitors can smoke. Apart from that, the decorations are really cool too. There are many beautiful wooden ornaments that we can use to take pictures with friends and family.

Polonia Sky Park has indeed become a new magnificent and luxurious food court. However, everyone can enjoy and eat here. The price is very varied and not expensive. The best time to come to this place is at night, because all food tenants will be open. That's the reason why many people come to this place. In fact, humans are always curious about new and unique things.

thank you for stopping by @faisalhanafih
you can try to this place if you have spare time. My advice, don't come on a weekend night, because it's very crowded and hard to find a seat and parking. Try it, to prove my theory if the distance from the roof to the floor is too close.

Greetings @isdarmady is very striking design, I like the style and especially that it has areas for those who like the outdoors. I understand about the daytime hours of intense heat, this is because of the material used for the roof and as you say, the low height and distance from ground level. I imagine the nights crowded with people enjoying this place that looks ideal for distraction. Thanks for showing us magnificent places in your city.

My country has a tropical climate and only has two seasons, the rainy and dry seasons. Every place, must have an indoor location because rain is unpredictable due to global warming and climate change. however, hot weather is predictable and should be overcome. Maybe next time, the manager should make a big fan to cool this place down.

I understand @isdarmady, I am also from a tropical country and it is as you say, there is only rain and drought, but now it is more unpredictable the intensity of each season. One day we are with a lot of sunshine and suddenly a heavy rain breaks out. I am sure that the people in charge of the works analyze the best options for each construction adjusting to all the needs that have to be covered according to the reality of the area. The truth is that the place is very beautiful, it looks spectacular.

Yup, I believe in that too. Perhaps, the construction and facilities of this food court are not perfect. However, it is a unique building and attracts the attention of many people.

It's really nice when our writing is read and the photos give an impression to people who see it.
You are absolutely right, the design and materials used are spectacular and unique for a food court.

A great food fair, like you I prefer the outdoor area. That wooden furniture is made of tree roots. ?

That's right, the outdoor area is more attractive especially when the weather is sunny. The furniture is indeed made of tree roots, and it takes a skilled person to make such a masterpiece.

Hello @isdarmady, you show us here again a very interesting place. 😊 If the architect's idea was really to make the construction look like domes (of a temple?), then this is a rather unconventional project. (Or it seems strange only to me? 🤔🙃)
But you say you didn't feel there very comfortable inside because of the heat. Do you personally feel the architects and builders did not do their job very well, emphasizing the design and not the functionality of the structure, not taking into account the specific climate of your country? What is your opinion?

hello @soulsdetour thank you for stoping by
this building is like a dome attached. But, @storiesoferne

I thought like that, some new cafe and restaurant buildings in my city have unique, beautiful and very instagramable designs. It certainly attracts visitors and they get it. I don't think they calculated the maximum number of people that could fit in that area and the comparison to building area and air circulation. I hope the manager will provide an additional fan to help circulate air in the future.

Wow! The Polonia Sky Park is an incredibly fabulous project @isdarmady. Its tent structures (fabric roofs) are designed to mimic domes, plus the umbrella shades beside it, creating a unique architectural masterpiece. Because of the aviation concept, these artistic structures also resemble the wings of birds in flight.

Although there are current problems regarding its ventilation systems, perhaps massive electric fans (not just regular-sized equipment) could be installed indoors, including the addition of exhaust outlets where hot air can escape, which can definitely assist in cooling its overall environment. 😊

You always find interesting points that I always miss. The Polonia Sky Park building cannot be separated from the image of the Indonesian air force. So, the architecture must be able to reflect about flight and beauty. I think the wings of a bird are the most appropriate parable.

That's right, I think the manager should outsmart the ventilation with fans but still pay attention to aesthetics and visitor comfort as well. Next week I plan to go there again, maybe I can check if there have been changes or it's still stuffy.

Hi @isdarmady,
It's a unique architectural design. However since it is a food court, the architect should have given weight too on the customers' comfort like better air circulation as this is in a tropical country. I love the wooden furniture in the outdoors. Thank you for sharing.
