Imposing abandoned hotel [Eng/Spa]

Greetings,

Dear friends, I hope you are all very well and enjoying what you are doing.

In this opportunity I come to show you a very emblematic building in my hometown but that is in abandonment and not only that but the secrecy of why it was uncorporated.

The emblematic Onyx Hotel

In my hometown La Victoria, in Venezuela around the decade of the 70's began a very imposing and quite ambitious work that would give way to the creation of the shopping center, business and four-star hotel that would bring great value to the city that by then had one of the most booming industrial areas of the country.

This hotel opened its doors in the 80's with cutting edge designs and decorations for those years, it had several restaurants that served for business meetings and for the innate cream of the city to taste its luxurious and rich dishes.

It had a swimming pool on the mall that every citizen could not wait until the weekend to pay the entrance fee and enjoy it, in the basement it had spaces for casinos and bingo halls.

It had a hall for events where many were able to enjoy their wedding party or to celebrate the birthdays of family members.

Its magnificence made it one of the best hotels in the state and the center of the country.

As you can see it had a great number of rooms and in its design it had a well designed emergency escape system to avoid any catastrophe.

In the early 90's the hotel mysteriously closed its doors, I say mysteriously because there is a secrecy with that information that is impressive, it is not known if it was due to decreased functions of the industrial zone or if it was that the hotel was too expensive to maintain and did not meet the expectations of its investors.

It is only known that in a neighboring lot there was an event with a fuel tank that nobody knows why it was there and that nobody knew until some children playing with fireworks exploded the tank and died.

Also talking with senior citizens and traveled in the city they say that they took away the permits of habitability product of a vein of subway water that began to sprout in a company that was adjacent to the hotel and that according to studies passed under it and that could be a very high risk factor.

After more than 10 or 15 years unoccupied, the municipal government began to make use of the building and in the restaurant areas they placed a school for the police forces, then a dance school was established which still operates on the first floor.

To contribute to its deterioration it was a shelter for a large number of people who lost their homes due to a flood and by the time they were relocated they took windows, doors and bathrooms among other things.

A short time ago it was speculated that they had given the bidding for the recovery and habilitation to the Marriott hotel chain but this still does not happen and information was leaked where it is speculated that they did not get the plans of the building and that they had to redraw them.

But as all this information that I tell you is not official only from the mouth of some citizens I still have my doubts and as a good citizen I would like to see the city reborn and to give life to places as emblematic as this, I am one of those who think that even museum for the next generation to know how it worked and how they lived in the city.

Saludos,
