Finding Current Events - The Political Post

Where do you find out what is happening in the world? With so much information at our fingertips it should be a simple thing to find out what is happening. A google search should provide us with some answers, however results seem to vary from user to user.

[ June 11 2021 ]

Customized search results may yield different articles depending on where you are from, or what type of profile you have. The narratives promoted by what is considered mainstream news sources are pushed to the front, while other important and perhaps not as well known current events may be pushed aside.

Users are force-fed a particular point of view, calculated and coordinated across stations in a way that attempts to control the perspectives being formed. I don't particularly enjoy the surface level and biased analysis that we are spoon fed.

Google: NEWS - What do you get?

1 https://www.cbc.ca/news
2 https://www.ctvnews.ca/
3 https://globalnews.ca/
4 https://www.cnn.com/
5 https://www.bbc.com/news/world

If your results are different please comment what they are.
So from these 5 sources that are being pushed, what is the news today?

Do you feel more informed?

Which current events here are relevant to you? Do you feel that the stories promoted by the main news sources today are covering it all? What other current events stories are on your mind today? What sources do you visit?

Over the past decade I often visit Wiki Current Events, however this relies on users updating the page so it doesn't have a comprehensive list, but is often a good place to start. There are many places to find information today.

Pick one or two of the stories referenced here and let's discuss it in more detail in the comments.

I find this story interesting because this couple was murdered and the story was previously buried.

"Top court orders files tied to Sherman murder case to be unsealed"

https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/top-court-orders-files-tied-to-sherman-murder-case-to-be-unsealed-1.5466406

"The estate sought to have the files sealed, arguing that the parties concerned should be spared from further intrusion into their privacy and that the release of the documents could put their safety at risk."

"In the ruling handed down Friday, the Supreme Court said that privacy concerns can justify a sealing order on an estate only if the dignity of the individual in question is at risk. The court found the information contained in the documents did not meet that threshold and that lawyers for the estate failed to prove that the safety of those associated with the documents would be at risk if they were unsealed."

"It also found that there is a “strong presumption that the public can attend hearings and that court files can be consulted and reported upon by the free press.”"

Here is a video report with some further information.

BBC happens to be where I get updated with the recent happenings. It is such a great place

PM tells G7 leaders we must learn lessons of pandemic https://www.bbc.com/news/live/uk-57433737

Find this an interesting read. They seriously need to learn and prepare the world for a possible event that might occur. Covid-19 really took everyone by surprises. They need to stay ahead of this things
