Hola hivers

Bienvenidos a mi blog

Hello hivers

Welcome to my blog

Top 5.png

Today I want to share with you the top 5 books you should read if you want to enter the world of philosophy. Many underestimate this discipline or label it as an area of knowledge that has died. But far from it, philosophy is more alive than ever and nowadays it is even more imperative to get to know it.

Recently I have noticed that it has become more popular, I like the idea that more and more people are becoming interested in philosophy. I decided to study it academically speaking. But there may be many people who are not interested enough to study it and get a degree, but that doesn't mean that they can't read and learn about philosophy and its history.

Therefore, I wanted to make this post as an attempt to make a guide and recommendations that no one will tell you if you want to approach philosophy. Not always reading the most famous or contemporary authors is the most appropriate way to approach this area of knowledge. Therefore, I will leave you my top 5 of the texts that will help you to get into philosophy and not die trying.

This list also represents the order in which I recommend reading these texts that serve as introductory reading to the world of philosophy.

Far from being boring as many claim, philosophy is a way of seeing the world pointing beyond the obvious things, philosophy is a continuous unveiling, a perpetual discovery. It does not pretend to contain or retain the truth, nor to be always right, what it pretends is always to question what is taken for granted, what is shown as obvious and evident in society and the world.

Philosophy has as its purpose to make us more lucid and less and less ingenious people, having as its goal to teach us to think for ourselves and also to know ourselves more and more.

Gracias por leer

Thank you for reading

Interesting selection, I think I'd also add Plato : The Republic. It's easy to read for novice philosopher and also provides fundamental politic theory.

Yes, I thought so. But I didn't put it on the list because it's a little longer than the banquet or apology. But it is certainly one of Plato's most important dialogues.

Thanks for commenting.

Apology really strikes home esp. nowadays. I had one philosophy class per week for 6 months at uni but we focused the entire time on Schopenhauer and Kant (few bits and pieces from Nietzsche). Can't say it was my favorite class ;) Thanks for sharing your list!

Important philosophers no doubt, but sometimes entering into philosophy without some reading as a preamble can be complicated, and even more so with philosophers like Kant or Nietzsche. Greetings and thanks for commenting.
