visuals for Hive Book Club community

Hello hiveans. This post is intended to rise awareness of the Hive Book Club community.

I've conducted a little macro session with a vintage book from the late XIX century that I happened to lay my hands on recently. My main idea was to gain some cool visuals to decorate community's banner, to make other visual stuff that could be used as adverts, etc.

I could 'play with fonts' and go in many different directions, try different logos (and actually I plan to do so), but with this image, I assume, I nailed it, I like it pretty much... what's your opinion? The image above for the header banner, and the image below for the little userpic?

It is always better to use your own photos, then 'google out' someone else's ready-mades.

I can tell you a little story about this book.

Back in September 2019, my last job was forced to move from its "home" place - we lost the office that my employer had occupied for the past 15 years. Moreover, all this was done in 10 days, we were forced to, simply kicked out. The new office we moved to, was smaller in size and less well located .... Accordingly, a lot of things didn't fit, we had to throw out a lot of "thrash". Old dated monitors, computers, office furniture, flowers in pots, all of this was given away for nothing, thrown out, left in place. I brought home a luxurious 20-inch NEC multimedia monitor, a book rack (both went to my daughter), some outdated computer parts (they can be used as props, have no other value now) ...and a bunch of books, some of them quite curious. Among other things, I saved this "Dear friend" novel by Guy de Maupassant, saved it from destruction and fate of "turning into waste paper". I don't need this novel, actually, I didn't plan to read it - but this book is a trace of the 19th century, such a nice piece of history, it looks so vintage ... that I simply had to save it.

В сентябре 2019 года моя последняя работа была вынуждена перехать с "насиженного" места - мы лишились офиса, который мой работодатель занимал последние 15 лет. Причем, все это было сделано за 10 дней, мы были вынуждены, нас просто кикнули вон. Мы переехали в другой офис, меньше размером и менее удачно расположенный.... Соответственно, куча вещей не влезала, мы были вынуждены многое выбросить. Старые мониторы, компьютеры, офисная мебель, горшки с цветами, все это отдавалось даром, выкидывалось, оставлялось на месте. Я принес домой роскошный 20-дюймовый мультимедийный монитор NEC, стеллаж для книг (оба достались моей дочке) и кучу книг, некоторые из них достаточно любопытные. В числе прочего, я спас от уничтожения и судьбы "превратиться в макулатуру" этот томик - "Милый друг" Ги де Мопассана. Мне не нужна эта новелла, я не планировал ее читать... но эта книга - след 19 века, она выглядит такой винтажной... что мне пришлось спасти и ее тоже.
