Hello beautiful people!

@kenechukwu97 here đź‘‹

Welcome to the New Cross Culture's Daily Curation where we bring you some amazing posts from members across communities of different cultures, focusing on but not limited to bilingual posts.

The Cross Culture community, was created by @whatamidoing.

It is a community that supports authors who make posts that share the realities of different cultures first hand, as well as different perspectives and experiences. We look for ways in which cultures can become crosscrossed and enlightening while going beyond stereotypes associated with certain culture.

The authors whose articles have been chosen for this week are all writing content of high quality, which focus on the various topics:

  • All bilingual posts
  • Posts in regional communities or tags
  • Posts related to language or culture
  • Posts in our cross culture community

Cross Culture's daily bulletin aims to bring to light all authors whose articles would otherwise remain unnoticed and lost in the platform, therefore we tend to reward authors who create quality posts, giving them a fair chance to establish themselves on the platform.

Howbeit, that's only the half of it!!!

After careful selections, our curators which come from diverse cultures will single out the most outstanding articles among all those curated to create a weekly shout out to the authors from the Top posts of the week.

đź“ŚTherefore, here are this week's awesome authors and their posts:

The High Rise of Divorce In Ghana by @ghanaba

In Ghana like many other African countries, the subject of divorce is treated with contempt and so, the society frowns against it due to its social implications. That notwithstanding, divorce must be sole based on evidenced by proof not mere allegations but by one that merits the justification of it. Thus, divorce is allowed under both customary and ordinance laws based on valid and concrete reasons. One cannot dispute the fact that the advent of the cultural imperialism from the West and East contributes to the myriad of problems experience in marriages in modern Ghana.

POB-WOTW: Frailty of the African Widow by @wongi

African widows are always thrown into a state of frailty and infirmity when such happens. I have heard and seen different tales from a widow. When a loved one departs, help is supposed to be given. Care is supposed to be shown to the family of the deceased. The way forward is supposed to be discussed by the family members but that is always the direct opposite. Most times, the widows are falsely accused of having a hand in the demise of their spouses. Really?!

Tostado is one of most famous delicacy here in Philippines specially in Cebu province. Tosatodo is a Spanish term that means "toasted" in English but tostado here in our province are baked. It's a kind of butter cookie made from flour, sugar, egg and baking soda. The simple cookie is baked to a golden brown color and it comes in different shapes, including star, circle, moon, heart and even flower.

Thanksgiving vs Chuseok (submission #0004 to Proof of Blind) by @proofofblind

These are two holidays on opposite poles. The first is an American holiday and the second is a Korean holiday. As far as I remember the biggest difference between Thanksgiving and Chuseok is I don't have to wake up at 6AM for Thanksgiving. Our family meetings were usually at 2pm and people started showing up at 3pm for a 5pm dinner. In Korea we are woken up bright and early to meet the ancestors and then share breakfast after they had eaten. In American the kids that are alive seem to be the star of the day.
