The Ancestral Call
Have you ever felt a connection with another land so strong and sudden that you wonder how on earth you didn't feel it before? Well, in recent days I've been experiencing just that with Africa. A week ago I watched a series of videos about the Zulu empire, whose most powerful leader was Shaka, a great but extremely cruel fighter whose revolutionary combat tactics changed tribal warfare in the continent forever but also caused a lamentable period of strife known as "Mfecane" (Crushing,) which left no less than two million dead in the interior plateau at the start of the nineteenth century. The series then discussed the Boers, the ancestors of present-day Afrikaans, and tribal relations with the British empire which, as we know, didn't go well in history.
After that small piece of information, I had a tremendously powerful dream where I was in the savannahs watching great cultural manifestations involving entire nations of people in full ceremonial attire, accompanied by multitudes of ancestors and animals of power. Even the faraway mountains were people. The dream left an imprint on me, or rather, revealed the imprint that I had in my subconscious connecting me to Africa. I now feel a great desire to visit those lands, to behold their cultures and traditions, to walk those paths and take in their wonders. Yesterday, as I was reflecting on that, I realized that I'd been seeing this for a while. I had a girlfriend whose name is Africa who lives in Spain now, and I felt that rekindling that connection was to be my bridge into Europe, but now I see that what I was feeling was related to the continent itself, not her. From now on, I'll dedicate a portion of my time to truly researching about African history, mythology and religion like I've never done before in this lifetime.
Although this powerful feeling is rather new to me, its reasons are quite clear: I've been delving ever deeper into my ancestry and, in doing so, I've also worked with the ancestry of the entire world because we all come from the same Tree and exist under the same Sky, and no land is more ancestral than Africa. That's where our species comes from, its sand, rivers, waterfalls, plateaus and mountains resonate with our most ancient stories, so my search inexorably leads me there. Like today's reading says, it's not yet time to begin that journey, but when the opportunity opens, I'll be ready to take it with both hands!

Natural windows that allow you to see new destinations. There are thresholds that you have not crossed and that are indispensable for what you must learn, but the time is not yet auspicious to begin the journey. Prepare yourself, organize your affairs, secure your belongings and reflect about what you seek. Breathe, do not succumb to anxiety or greed, act with moderation. You must consider the most appropriate medium of transportation for the road that you shall start, the horse may be loyal but it cannot climb mountains. Your north is not the north of anyone else, accept the teachings of your guides but remember that you path is not theirs. Advance at your rhythm, do not walk in the shadow of others nor impose limitations on yourself for their benefit, you have your own place in the Universe.
