POPULAR CEREAL GRAIN IN NIGERIA

Good morning Hivers ! Have you ever tasted a corn before? Probably it is only Nigerians that consumes this kind of mouth watering grain. Maize is known to be planted and cultivated in mostly all parts of Nigeria as they find it beneficial to the body. Corn is a starchy vegetable and cereal grain that many people all over the world eat.

Someone told me it is called Maize until it is cooked or roasted, then it is called Corn. Is that true?

There are two ways to cook a maize and it becomes a corn. The first is to peel the shafts away and add salt to it with some water in the pot, then cover till it steams together and ready to eat. The other way which most people do is to cook together with the shafts and then remove when it is cooked. Well, I prefer the former step.

Have you tasted corn with beans together? I don't know of other tribes, but those who eat it are the Ijebus from the Western Part of Nigeria. My mom taught me how to prepare this and you can only enjoy it when it is not too hot.

Also, we have the roasted corn. Oh my God! I bet, most people love roasted corn including me but in some cases to the old ones, they prefer eating cooked corn because of how strong the roasted corn is and can damage their teeth. Many times, when I eat roasted corn, it makes me feel pain on my teeth but I prefer it like that too. Lol

This is a coconut and it goes with corn (either cooked or roasted). Those who eat this combination will tell how sweet it is to behold both of them. You enjoy it well when you take a bite of corn and then the coconut into your mouth. That moment you start crunching both will make you feel heaven in your palm. Lol

Also, corn with pears is a good to go combination. If you haven't tasted this, then you are missing a lot. You can only enjoy the pear when it is cooked then it goes with corn (cooked or roasted).
