EKPO NKAWO - THE DIETY THAT DEAL WITH INFIDELITY IN MARRIAGE (The sacred diety of the Ibibio people).
I thought it wise to share this with people from other tribes all over the world so I decided to re-introduce the sacred deity that punishes infidelity in marriage.

The act of infidelity in marriage comes with lots of consequences and has a gruesome effect on the individuals involved..
Amongst the AKWA-IBOMITE, the act of infidelity is often handed over to a diety called "ekpo- nkawo". The effect is mostly felt by the women as such, any woman involved in this dastard act, often dies at child birth unless she confesses to Ekpri Akata (the spirit of the departed).
On the other hand, the men are usually excluded from the punishment, the reason for this is what remains a mystery.

Although not all tribe in Akwa-Ibom are subjected to this diety but most young men often prefer to choose a bride from villages or towns that reverence the diety (especially the Annang and Ibibio) for the fear of Sharing their spouse. Most of the men belief that with the knowledge of this diety, their wives will remain faithful to them..
One aspect that most male fail to understand is that their wives may choose to divorce them and of course will not be affected by this diety. Funny right??

It even gets more confusing to see the culprits husband being punished instead of the man who had a carnal knowledge of his wife..
It is usually advices that both partners stay true to themselves on the basis of marriage to avoid being a victim.
