Decentralization, Distribution, And The End Of The Nation-State

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

We are seeing a radical shift to the digital world. The work from home era is just getting started. Along with that, we are rapidly progressing towards the virtual world.

This means that our present entities are going to come under a great deal of attack. As our network activity takes upon a larger role in our lives, the physical/geographic arena will mean less.

In this video I discuss how everything is going to follow computational power. That is being distributed by the fact more of it is available in smaller devices. As this evolves, we will find the power structures around us being changed. This is not something that most entities are built to handle. They are centralized for a reason: to maintain the power and control they amassed.

Are we gonna be able to lease storage space on our computers to the cloud storage project of threespeak that you mentioned about?

Not sure lease is the proper term but, as far as I know, that is still the plan. We will be able to provide space for their decentralized video (and image) storage network.

No idea when that will be live. The client is already available for download on their discord server.

It definitely looks like those who can't adapt will lose out. The big tech corporations know this and I wonder who will be the first to tokenize. Will the CDBC come out first or will banks make their own stablecoins? How will the control be split across the web now that everything is going digital. We are now connected to the entire world and international relations matter more to politics.

There should be decentralization of political movement where the resetting of power of authoriry and policy making start

There is but it is never easy to tell people to give up power. All the banks over the world are working together to maintain their control. I personally think it would be chaos if currencies were wiped out before mass adoption thus I think the move to a CDBC or banks releasing stable coins are required to lessen the panic.

Hard to answer any of your questions other than we will have to wait and see.

Plenty of narratives are starting to play out which is interesting. We are seeing some strange bedfellows.

I agree with the nation state becoming obsolete over the next few decades.

What I definitely wouldn't like to see is a consolidation of power into the hands of powerful supernational and global organizations. Instead, I'd like to see flexible and situational models of governance.

That is true, we dont want to go from one controlling entity, governments, to another. This is going to be a shift we have to be mindful about. At present, the mega tech companies are going to be coming in looking to fill that role. They are no more appealing than governments.

Decentralisation can go a long way to reducing the power of governments, but at the end of the day we are physical beings and under threat from physical violence.
Nothing in the virtual world can protect you or your family from a hostile army, a terrorist or a violent criminal.

While the behaviour of most nation states in creating CoronaTyranny makes one want to do away with them altogether, this current distopia has actually revealed the problems of a too-connected world where mass psychosis has gone global and the few nations that tried to resist it (ie Sweden) have been bullied.

Freedom of choice means that it is important that we have different nation states with different approaches to dealing with issues.

The mass psychosis is real. however that same interconnectedness allows those of us who are paying attention to see what the entrenched powers do to those who try to stand up to them, which is to say to see that those entrenched powers exist at all. Definitely a double edged sword. It's interesting how the game has changed from hiding things from the people to flooding us with so much different fake news that the truth is hidden in the haystack of bullshit.

On the idea of freedom of choice of different nation-states, it may be possible to move from one to another, but it is not easy, involves a gross violation of privacy, and is generally only possible for people with money. it would take a lot more than going back to "normal" to change that.

(not trying to be a contrary mary, just looking for that "golden solution" you know?) Ultimately I think it lies with human evolution. We just have to grow up as a species. otherwise we will continue on as slaves to our own shittiness.

Nothing in the virtual world can protect you or your family from a hostile army, a terrorist or a violent criminal.

Consider why those entities attack and will there still be the reason in the future.

A lot of it is over physical things, which will be less important in the virtual, especially land.

Tribalism will carry a different connotation in the future.

The End Of The Nation-State

you're currently living in a nation state where building barriers at borders is what almost half of people want, even if technology would make nation states obsolete, people will still cling to their beliefs and politicians will always find a way to exploit those beliefs

people will still cling to their beliefs

And they can, in their own little facet of their world. When things go digital and then virtual, people will be able to find whatever they want and form their own networks. That doesnt mean that they have to affect anyone else.

politicians will always find a way to exploit those beliefs

Where do politicians fit into this. They are just as applicable as MasterCard and Visa in this realm.

politicians are the ones who make he decisions, that's why we elect them. They can choose to make things difficult if their base is fearful of change. Turkey comes to mind, a secular state that is becoming more and more religious and conservative because politicians are pandering to that segment of their population

Everything that is centralized is at threat today because of Blockchain technology. Blockchain helps against corruption.

Short Summary:
In this video, the speaker discusses the impact of blockchain, cryptocurrency, and decentralization on the world. He predicts the eventual end of nation-states due to technological advancements shifting power structures towards decentralized governance. The speaker emphasizes the role of technology and networks in reshaping governance, finance, and societal structures. He touches on topics like decentralized video storage, the obsolescence of traditional banking due to tokenization and CBDCs, the emergence of DeFi challenging traditional finance, and the potential for virtual citizenship and remote work to redefine physical boundaries and governance structures.

Detailed Article:
The video delves into the transformative potential of blockchain, cryptocurrency, and decentralization on global governance, predicting the eventual decline of nation-states in favor of decentralized networks. The speaker anticipates a shift from physical to network-based structures, with governance evolving towards more decentralized, blockchain-enabled systems. He highlights the importance of trust in governance, drawing parallels to historical concerns over tyranny and the power dynamics within governments. The speaker explores how the evolution of technology, particularly advancements in computational power leading to edge computing, is driving decentralization and reshaping power structures.

Furthermore, the speaker discusses the impact of technology on various industries, particularly emphasizing the diminishing relevance of traditional banking with the rise of tokenization and CBDCs. He foresees the emergence of DeFi as a significant challenger to the traditional financial system, enabling individuals to participate in alternative financial models. The narrative extends to virtual citizenship and remote work, highlighting how technology enables individuals to operate and engage regardless of physical location, thereby challenging traditional notions of governance tied to geographic boundaries.

The speaker also addresses the changing dynamics in corporate power structures, critiquing the influence of major institutions on government and regulators. He advocates for individual empowerment through decentralized systems, suggesting that opting out or circumventing traditional power structures may be a more effective strategy against tyranny. Drawing parallels to historical disruptions like Napster's impact on the music industry, the speaker emphasizes the potential for blockchain and decentralized technologies to democratize economic and governance systems, potentially redistributing power from major institutions.

In conclusion, the video underscores the imminent societal shift towards virtuality, where physical constraints and traditional power structures are challenged by decentralized, network-based alternatives. By discussing cutting-edge projects like 3Speak and innovations in the financial sector such as DeFi, the speaker paints a vision of a future where individuals have greater agency in shaping their economic and governance experiences. The overarching theme revolves around the transformative potential of technology in redefining societal structures, governance models, and individual empowerment in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
