More Of The "Killer" Talk

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

Headlines are made to draw attention. I guess the discussion about this killer or that killer is what gets readers. The latest is that Polkadot is the Ethereum killer.

In this video I discuss the importance of all blockchains and how we need to work on all of them succeeding. The simple fact, when it comes to comparing to the centralized world, we are at a huge bandwidth disadvantage.

There is no competition between blockchains. The whole idea is ludicrous and the only thing keeping that cockroach alive is plain old tribalism borne out of human nature. Apart from the fact that the whole industry is only cutting its teeth whatever cross-chain interoperability we have seen so far is only scratching the surface of what is possible. The network effect between chains is next the largest source of value in the space.

I agree with you. Interoperability is vital and something that we are seeing coming into being. This is similar to what we saw with the internet when projects were operating in isolation during the early days until standardization of webpages came into effect.

We will see it happening in this realm also. I like how you said old tribalism.

When we truly look at it, it makes no sense.

I'm not near as knowledgeable about this space as many here are, but for a person with a little bit of knowledge not to see that we are only at the very starting line of what blockchain and crypto have to offer is short-sighted and ignorant.

He discusses the prevalence of "killer" labels in the cryptocurrency world, referring to projects aiming to supplant others like Ethereum, Bitcoin, and EOS. The speaker critiques Bitcoin detractor Peter Schiff for his alleged financial misconduct. The discussion delves into the need for scalability in blockchain systems, emphasizing the importance of decentralized data ownership. Specific projects like Hive, Ethereum, Polkadot, Cordano, and Tron are mentioned in the context of providing bandwidth and addressing scalability challenges. The speaker highlights the autonomy and security blockchain offers compared to traditional financial and social media systems.

Detailed Article:

The video opens with a discussion on the concept of "killer" projects in the cryptocurrency space, such as Polkadot being labeled as the next Ethereum killer. The speaker mentions the long history of Ethereum killers like EOS and Tron, noting that Ethereum still dominates in terms of applications and usage. Bitcoin's resilience despite numerous death predictions is highlighted, with the speaker criticizing prominent Bitcoin critic Peter Schiff for facing allegations of financial impropriety.

The conversation then shifts towards blockchain technology and its emphasis on decentralized data. The speaker emphasizes the need for scalable systems in various industries like finance, social media, gaming, and governance. Specific projects like Ethereum, Cordano, and Hive are cited as working on scaling solutions to handle the vast number of global transactions. The importance of legitimate blockchains in providing bandwidth is stressed, with mentions of Bitcoin forks, EOS, Tron, and Polkadot.

The discussion delves into the backend structures of blockchain systems like Hive, wherein Leo Finance serves as a back end database tied to account and wallet management. The speaker explains how blockchain technology empowers individuals to own and control their data, albeit with a degree of anonymity. The speaker contrasts the autonomy offered by blockchain systems with the centralized control exerted by traditional banking and social media platforms.

By highlighting the decentralized and secure nature of blockchain systems, the speaker underscores the inability of third parties to meddle with accounts or siphon funds without consent. The versatility and freedom afforded by blockchain technology are exemplified through examples like 3Speak and PeakD, offering diverse user interfaces that cater to individual preferences.

In conclusion, the speaker emphasizes the necessity of multiple blockchains to address the growing demand for bandwidth and storage capacity in decentralized systems. The ever-expanding landscape of blockchain projects underscores the collaborative nature of the cryptocurrency ecosystem, where each project serves a unique purpose in bolstering the infrastructure needed to revolutionize data ownership and financial transactions.
