Making a Dfference in Life

I was helping out a friend in need recently and was complimented for doing so. During this time of a global pandemic, we all need to come together and lighten the load wherever we can. My buddy recalled that I always seemed to pitch in without making anyone have to ask for assistance and they wanted to know why I seemed to be so attentive to everyone's needs.

I explained that I grew up very poor and never forgot what it felt like when my mother would send me any my sister ove to the neighbors to ask for food. The memories of the disdain that we sometimes encountered never left me. I vowed that as an adult, I wouldn't wait for someone to have to swallow their pride and work up the courage to ask for something. My whole point was to preserve as much as possible, the dignity of people who are down on their luck.

Something we can all do, is to try and imagine how we would feel if we were in their place. My friend would always say" "Closed mouths don't get fed." but I had to explain to him that some people have too much shame in their situation to come forward. Therefore, a discerning individual should be on the lookout and aware to help lift someone up, sparing them the need to ask for assistance.

If you see a need, fill it.

Thank You So Much!

Thank you so much for that kind compliment. If everyone was as concerned about "us" instead of just "me " the world would be a better place.
