Splinterlands Social Challenge | A tough match with Equalizer match

Hola Splinterland Players!

I hope you all enjoying Splinterlands!

This is your splinter fellow warrior mango-juice with another Splinterlands share your battle weakly challenge post!!

So last week, team splinterlands came with another unique idea about the theme of Weekly Battle challenge. This time, they didn't choose any particular card, instead, they went for the rulesets!
Yes, this time we had to write a battle post on the Equilizer ruleset! Well, that's new brainwork, as I was used to writing for a particular card for the last couple of weeks, but this time I had an entirely different entity to write about. So I shake my brain cells and started ASAP!

The Rule That Equalize

the Equalizer is one of the latest rulesets that got introduced in splinterlands. personally, I think this particular ruleset is very different than others simply because it changes the whole match!

There are only a few rulesets that hold its own unique identity and make players think twice about their line up. Similar to reverse speed, Equalizer also wears the crown for that reason.

Equalizer ruleset converts health of every monster on the field equal to the highest health holding monster of that match. Suppose you use an Exploding dwarf (HP 1), kobold miner(HP 5), ooze(HP 2) and flame monkey(HP 2) with Malric in a 12 mana match and opponent use a Sea monster(HP 9) and ooze(HP 2) deck with Alric. What happens next is due to the ruleset the HP of all the monsters of you and your opponents get increased and equal to the hight HP holding monsters, Sea monster in this case. SO, simply your exploding dwarf will now get 9 HP instead of his own 1. Now you can clearly guess which team will win ;)

When all monsters get equal health, I think it is better to focus on attack power and type when it comes to Equilizer matches. Its general in Equilizer matches that you have to destroy a lot of health in order to win a match. Whoever does that faster, wins.

For me, I generally go for high power magic summoners with Alric Stormbringer, the water summoner that gives +1 health. Equalizer gives you more pain when you use archers in the back and your opponent brings out a heavily armoured card at the front. The pain gets more when its a weak magic attack. So that strategy doesn't work always.

For my second strategy, I go with either fire melee deck or Selenia archer deck. Especially in armoured cases, selenia (and price rennyn or Yodin Zaku) can become your best friend if the water is useless.

"Archers bring harmony in the battlefield, especially the snipers." - once said by someone can be proved in these conditions. If you can manage to create a good archer combo with suitable defence at the front that most of the time works great.

"Folks always go for sniper strategies but who knows if a Cornelious is waiting at reach?" - Said by another one and that is true too. Many time I found myself captured by Cornelious alone when I choose multiple snipers at once. His return damage is so dangerous that it can even kill your archers without breaking a sweat.

Moreover, not choosing a Tank Heal card is one of the many mistakes I do sometimes. When your monsters get all gigantic, a little healing can help them stand much longer than usual. Just imagine using two of the best defence cards at the front followed by a healer and 3 high attack magic/archer card. No Doubt, That will work my friend :)

Ruleset Of Battle

image.png

image.png

  • Mana count This match holds a medium 23 mana cap!

  • Summoners This battle supports Water, Earth, Life, Death and Dragon summoners.

  • Ruleset So, It was a dual ruleset as below...
    • Super Sneak (all the monsters will get Sneak Ability).
    • Equalizer` ( Hp of all the monsters will be equal to the monster having highest HP).

It's a medium mana match this time and the other ruleset is super sneak, the archers and melee monsters will start attacking the back position.

So, I intentionally went for water deck with Spinebac turtle at back. Firstly, the opponent may focus on attacking the back and leave his front weak. Secondly, the magic monsters avoid armour and damage the HP directly.

Line-Up

COCATRICE

I chose COCATRICE in the first place because of its Flying and Evade combo. I have a level 7 and it has 1 melee attack at 6 speed and 4 health. If the opponent doesn't use magic monsters, this card alone can cause him to lose.

image.png

ENCHANTED PIXIE

I chose ENCHANTED PIXIE in the second place because of its Flying and Inspire combo. I have a level 8 and it has 2 magic attack at 4 speed and 4 health. It will give the Cocatrice and Turtle +1 melee power and also will be hard to kill for its flying ability.

image.png

MERMAID HEALER

I chose MERMAID HEALER in the third place because of its Triage and Strengthening combo. I have a level 4 and it has 1 magic attack at 3 speed and 4 health. It will help to heal the monsters at the non-first position, and as it is a super sneak match, my rear ones will get more hits I guess.

RULER OF THE SEAS

I chose RULER OF THE SEAS in the fourth place because of its Silence, Swiftness and Blast combo. I have a level 4 and it has 4 magic attack at 3 speed and 5 health. It will help me gain +1 speed on all friendly monsters and enemies with -1 magic and with his blast attacks as an awesome bonus!

image.png

ICE PIXIE

I chose ICE PIXIE in the fifth place because of its Flying and Shatter combo. I have a level 8 and it has 2 magic attack at 5 speed, 2 armour and 3 health. It will help me break the defence shields (if any) and also with its high-speed magic attack.

SPINEBACK TURTLE

I chose SPINEBACK TURTLE in the sixth place because of its Flying and Shatter combo. I have a level 8 and it has 2 magic attack at 5 speed, 2 armour and 3 health. It will help me break the defence shields (if any) and also with its high-speed magic attack.

Let us now take a leap of faith straight into the gameplay.

Well, it was an awesome match, my friends! My opponent came up with a melee monster line up whereas I went with a magic deck. Let's see who wins the match!

First, let us follow the opponent's line-up...

  • My opponent @jimbobbill used Dragon epic summoner Daria Dragonscale against me.
  • At the front position, he used Brownie Level 5. He chose a fast runner with Inspire to his front and utilizing the equalizer rule well!
  • At the second position, he used Screeching Vulture level 8.
  • At the third position, he puts Fiendish Harpey lev 4.
  • At the fourth position, he chose Enchanted Defender lev 7.
  • At the fifth position, he chose Swamp Thing lev 5.
  • At the last position, he chose Lightning Dragon lev 4.

AS you can see from the battle, none of us used a giant HP monster in our line up so the monsters got the ma health from Turtle / Lightning Dragon (both having same health 7). He used 4 melees at the front including 2 opportunity monsters.

He utilized the ruleset very well as he also focused on the attack power and speed. Taking 2 opportunity monsters most of the times helps you to kill the middle place holders having multiple abilities but weak in health. But in the equalizer, they will attack only the wounded one. In this case, for the super sneak ruleset, they will attack the turtle at first, and that's why I took the turtle with high armour and throne at the first place.

My magic monsters did very well in this match and took the cards one by one starting from the Brownie. Also, my cocatrice evaded a lot of enemy attacks and bought me time to kill the enemy monsters.

A big shout out to my opponent Jimmy! He is a brave player and a member at Neoxian Guild. You really played well!

Duuuuuude.
I'm always excited to read your posts because you give GREAT insight on strategies... some I would totally not think of (in the 2 minutes I have to build a team 🤣).

Specifically, for this one, utilizing a summoner +1 health AND a healer!
Seriously, I think I think (lol) that because I have so much health anyway why worry about healers? But! I should! Cause a little heal can go a long way... no matter the ruleset. 😉
Great job!
