Another Gathering

0.jpg

It was supposed to be a birthday dinner party. But due to Covid-19, there is a restriction on the number of people allowed in a group. Hence, we had to change our dinner party to a lunch gathering of six. (A household is allowed a maximum of 5 visitors at a time.)

Once again, my friend Ernest, graciously opened his home to us, and offered to cook for us too. For those who have been following this blog, you will remember that Ernest is an artist, and a wonderful cook.

Here’s what he whipped up. It was a western menu this time.

Spanish omelette with cheese topping

Pan fried salmon garnished with caramelized onions on a bed of mashed green peas

Baked chicken with bacon, shallots and cherry tomatoes

Fragrance butter rice

As always, the food was very nice. After lunch, there was fresh tropical fruit platter, coffee and tea, while we catch up of the latest news and what’s happening in our lives.

When we got tired of talking, and our lunch has sometime digested, we had birthday cake, ice-cream and more coffee and tea.

After that, we continue with our chatter. With six adults at the same table, there is plenty to talk about. I was content to just listen, and to chip in with a comment here and there while the others shared their stories.

Very soon, the sky outside darkened. It was dinner time, and while we were not very hungry, we could eat something. Our gracious host had planned for a light dinner. So, off he went to the kitchen to cook something. Some of the curious guests followed him into the kitchen to learn how to cook the dish.

Wheat Vermicelli with Abalone, prawns and spinach.

The party ended at 9 pm for some, and 10 pm for others. We all had a great day - good food, and great company. This is what people call the simple pleasures in life.

What a nice party! I wouldn’t mind hiding in the kitchen to see the cook and steal some food like cat!!

Thank you.
The girls learn the recipes of the dishes from Ernest. They have impressed their families with what they learned. 🙂
