Ohayou Gozaimasu!

Hope all is IRIE with yah. Mi deh yah a count my blessings and not stressing.

All Fruits Ripe

And speaking about counting blessings, nothing like getting some exotic fruits from a friend. Yesterday I was gifted with some grapes ( Muscats ). I did not even know the word Muscat before living in Japan, we just called them all grapes in Jamaica 😂. As you may know by now, the price of fruits in Japan is through the atmosphere, a bunch of grapes can run you up to $50 depending on the farmer and region it is from. One of the major locations for growing grapes in Japan is Yamanashi located in the Honshu region of Japan. The prefecture encompasses the northern part of Mt. Fuji and that is where these grapes were from.

The first song that came to my head as I received these grapes was All Fruits Ripe by Junior Reid.

I grew up listening to this song on the radio and in the Dancehalls , back then I had no clue at all what it meant. Do I even know now?😅

All fruits ripe shake the grape tree, there's a grape for you and me.

To me it is saying there is enough for everyone, so no need to be greedy or jealous over another's achievements or gains, just put in the work "shake the grape tree" ( Yes it is a grape vine but who cares? I hate mofos who always try to be text book correct, such bitches 👺.

The next major line that I only recently realized what he was saying:

Don't call me no Don, don't call me name brand, call me missa man.

At fist I though he said "diss a man" but on carful listen through my headphones I realized. This line to me means that even after he is full of abundance and it shows, don't call him a don or a name brand , just call him a man.

Very playful lyrics on the surface but powerful once you dive in. Man these old school tunes WICKED! If you don't know this tune, you should if you are a Reggae lover. Listen below.

Yup, I am missing me some Jamaican breakfast right about now, but if its one thing about yaad man, we adopt.

Bless Up! And Fulljoy the day!

Throughout the whole song he focuses on not being called by any other name, but just a man. The song is all about equality between every person, no matter what title. At least that's what I get out of it.

Those look like some big juicy grapes. Did you get them from the same friend that gave you the peaches?

Yes. I knew something was missing in my meaning. Indeed listening to the entire song it is about equality for sure. No matter how you living yuh a missa man, no title.

You know it was a different friend this time. I actually mentioned it her cause she was gong down that side, didn’t expect her actually bring some back though 😂

Damn, those fruits are expensive as hell! When fruits get that expensive, I just skip them... or steal one and grab a bite while I ran away from the angry merchant. 🤭

Maybe not these at those prices but they do exist. Imagine going to the super market and most are window shopping 🍎 🤣
