So it happened, after dodging it for almost 3 years, I got Covid. How did I manage to get it? Take a guess before you read on.

Well it all started in the middle of the night last Sunday July 31st, one of my twins woke up crying from a fever and an excruciating headache 🤕 ( this was the same twin who caught chicken pox and gave it me, had me out for days). We hoped for the best but we were prepared for the worst. Since there was no emergency 🚨 clinics open to check people with symptoms of Covid at that time, we cooled him down with some ice packs and towels until the morning.

On Monday, August 1st ( interestingly emancipation day in Jamaica actually ) my wife took him to the clinic where it was confirmed he had covid-19.

The thing is, there is no isolating a 6 year old kid, after a few hours of rest and medication he received, he was walking around mingling with the other kids and watching tv.

“Hey, you should be resting in the room.
Wear your mask, don’t touch the remote, wash your hands, don’t sit so close.”

It felt bad telling him some of this stuff but deep down we all knew we all would catch it especially since the new strains are super transmissible.

By Wednesday, the second twin went through the same thing, waking up in his sleep crying. Then it was the toddler, then my wife. They all went for a PCR test that day. I would do the same on Thursday. My symptoms started on Wednesday night with a crazy headache, it felt like a hangover in the middle of my brain 10x. I couldn’t sleep as any pressure on the head felt like I was going crazy. This virus is not normal. But we already new that.

At first I wondered why do the PCR test if I know I already have it, but “official” is the order of the day here. And that’s why the statistics seem so high compared to other countries, everyone is testing and it is being reported.

Basically haven’t left my house since last Thursday to get the PCR test and shouldn’t leave until August 13th they say. What is appalling is the app they want you to sign up for that tells everyone around you ( with the app) that a Covid positive person is near via Bluetooth? Oh but your information is private so don’t worry. Then they call and ask to fill out some feedback stuff online.

One “good” thing is that the government will send a care package to each person who wants it. It includes food, drinks, water, toilet paper, sanitizers and other stuff. Of course we checked to bring it all so we can save the can goods for the food shortage narrative. So that’s 5 boxes full of stuff, two delivered so far.

The cost of the PCR test and medicine with insurance was ¥2,960. I have no idea what it would cost without it but compared to a PCR test in Jamaica without meds which is $18,000 JMD, it is quite affordable. No wonder the cases are so low around the world compared to Japan, if I had to pay that much I’d forget about it and many literally cannot afford it. What a money grab. Interestingly I didn’t even have to pay upfront and was told to just stop by and pay when I get better. Imagine them trying to do that in other countries?

Thank God everyone is fine, just a few coughs now but the worst seems to be over, the hard part is keeping 3 boys occupied at home besides watching tv and playing games. Drawing helped a little and reading but anime is their main therapy.

For me, I’ve been organizing my EP, catching up on the Stranger Things series and reading. I also watched the new Predator movie last night, it’s pretty good. I don’t think I can stand one more day indoors, I’ll probably go for a very early morning walk and push ups before the world wakes up.

I do hope you never catch Covid and if you already have, I hope you have gotten better.

And last but not least, Happy 60th Independence Day Jamaica 🇯🇲. Was watching the gala today for a bit with the boys. Keep the culture alive.

Thanks man! We are all fine!

Glad you pulled through the emergency room visit with just a few scuffs. Not a nice experience I can imagine.

So many people are catching it daily now. It’s only a matter of time.

Hello @dmilliz
I'm sorry to hear about this distress for your family. It must be a stressful time.

You've highlighted some interesting gestures that the govt has implemented in Jamaica, and I also find it remarkable that years later, they still have rigid systems for you to test (and report) all cases, and that system of notifying local areas via Bluetooth.
The cost is also note-worthy and the social care of the country indeed, in comparison to places like Jamaica.

Things are very different here in the UK atm.

Hey, give thanks. It was and still is a stressful time. There was a window where the kids were all well and my wife and I were still going through it, the stronger one at the time had to take care of them.

In surprised too they are still this systematic. I figured I could pass up the PCR and save time and money but that’s the Jamaican speaking.

Thanks for the soup, was drinking a lot the first days.

Thanks for filling us in. Happy the family is recovering. I learned a lot here. Didn’t know about the cost for the PCR and the care package. I think the little early morning walks will be refreshing.
Happy Independence. I’ve glimpsed some videos of the grand gala. Nuff excitement. Even saw the Prime Minister budding some moves. Lol!!

I heard there is a surge in Japan at the moment of the Omicron B5 variant. It's the same one raging through the west at the moment, but it's on the decline here. The good news, so far, is that there is no new variant detected yet, so this may be the last major strain.

It may not feel like it, but at least you've got the weakest strain of all. Hopefully a few days of rest and some good warm soup should get you feeling better.

By the way, by the time your twin had it, you all had it. That's how transmissible the damn thing is. I think the very good isolation regime in Asia is why Omicron is now a big issue over there. Here, the isolation wasn't so good, so we've all had it already now.

Get well soon bro.

Yeah it's been crazy seeing the case counts on the news. Didn't think I'd be a statistic 🤷🏾‍♂️

The good news, so far, is that there is no new variant detected yet, so this may be the last major strain.

It seems the narrative is switching to monkey pox, they can get the tiktok gen to bend to their will because it affects your looks.

Man if that was the weakest strain I don’t want to imagine the others, this was horrible… well the first two days.

By the way, by the time your twin had it, you all had it. That's how transmissible the damn thing is.

That is true, should have seen us wearing mask sometimes 😷 thinking, this doesn’t make any sense, we already exposed.

In the end, everybody seems to get acquainted with this virus. Glad you are all ok! In my circles, I know a few that got long Covid, which seems to me the worst result that one can have. Recently this virus got me as well with very similar effects as you describe.

How nice you got a box of food! Something we don't do in my country of the lowlands, that tiny country in the west of Europe. Though the PCR test is for free here.

The good thing about having Covid is that we can catch up with things we usually don't take time for :) Enjoy the 'free' days :)

I agree with that, so many people I know have gotten it in the last few weeks. The BA5 variant is a master spreader. The long Covid was something I was worried about too but so far so good.

How nice you got a box of food! How nice you got a box of food! Something we don't do in my country of the lowlands, that tiny country in the west of Europe.

In reality we already paid for it with the crazy taxation but grateful nonetheless 😂. What country are you from? Taking a whites here Liechtenstein ( after a quick google search )

Yes indeed it seems Covid is needed in Japan, a lot of tired people walking around with no break insight.

Am from the Netherlands. High taxes as well, however no free covid food boxes. Though we have free PCR tests :)
But but but high taxes resulted in a high levels of infrastructure and services for our society ;)

Wow the first imagination of legal marijuana land. I hear it isn’t so legal though? I hear the farmers there ( in general) are the best in the world.

The PCR test used to be free here, not sure what happened.

Indeed, weed was never officially legal in NL. Though since the 70s it is condoned. Shops with special permits from the government are allowed to sell, but they are not allowed to buy. Growing is illegal, except for own consumption of up to a few plants. Weed is grown in the country anyways but also imported from big (illegal) farms in other countries.
I suppose the quality is of high level, however, I understood that these days the quality of weed is better in those states in the US that allow recreational use of weed and growing of weed. And even before it was legalised in the US, many growers to supply to those with a medical pass, and doctor subscriptions. Apparently, such a doctor subscription was/is super easy to get, just a single phone call with a statement like "I have chronic back pain, can't live with it anymore, can you subscribe me medical weed?". Anyways, I heard that from peeps over in the US. Not sure if it is/was indeed that easy, but the story goes it is/was. NL has the name for weed, but so many other countries and cities around the world taking a much easier approach to weed usage. Its just funny NL is in the news, all the other countries are not lolololol

So sorry, there isn't COVID in Nigeria, so I wouldn't say that I understand the circumstances of things. Preventing a 6 year old from doing what they'd regularly do because of COVID can be very difficult, I guess it's your own turn to isolate. Be good, my prayers are with you and your family.

Respect bro! I realize the countries with less vaccinations were spared from major Covid spread. The theory is the vaccine helped push the spread.

Yeah man, it's mission impossible to isolate a 6 year old unless you have a huge house and lock them away.

Keep up the greatness bro!

Yes bredda! Give thanks for the information! I got zinc, magnesium and vitamin C but I need to get some zeolite, had no clue about that. I translated the first couple pages. I think the D an C are most importunant.

I also got Somen activated charcoal and apple pectin to flush out toxins. The flu a run rampant here.

Blessings!

I just started with Zeolite, recommendation/order 😅 from my new wholistic dentist.
It flushes out especially the heavy metals that they are spraying & injecting (GO)...so we
stay human, and avoid becoming "futurama Benda"😉. No joke, the A.I. wants to transmit to its "receiver"...well screw that!😉 Nettle tea is good too, nettles contain silicium, which detoxes metals, too...
Stay safe & healthy!

What a bad friend, how sad that you got hit by the covid-19, however I am glad that you got better and that your children especially also got better, I can imagine the worry in the early mornings in which each twin got sick for a moment to not sleep, I recently got sick but it did not last long, I did not go to the doctor either, I just drank some tea but thank God all my family is healthy, I hope you can also be in full recovery.

Respect bro! It actually only lasted 3 days but here they ask you to stay I doors in order not the spread it. The kids were over it within a day. And they still want them to get vaccinated.

We are all well now bro!

What kind of tea did you drink? We
